Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting plastic plant pots, CFLs, lead acid batteries, and rechargeable batteries for recycling.
Our stores sent approximately 5.3M pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63.5K trees. It kept over 16K trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saved over 50M gallons of water, and conserved 7.8M kilowatt hours of electricity.
We have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores since 2010.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates. This commitment extends beyond our stores to the environment and our local communities. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our eco actions.

Do you offer Halloween skeletons or witches that move?
Yes, we carry many kinds of Halloween decor that make noise and/or move. Our Halloween animatronics bring eerie characters to life. Life-like moving creatures will be the talk of the neighborhood. This includes current favorites like Dean the Deathologist and Skelly. For additional drama, use a fog machine or two to conceal the animatronics until they start to move. You can even become part of the scene by hiding in a Halloween costume and surprising unsuspecting trick-or-treaters.
Is it good to have a generator at home?
Having a generator means you're prepared for any circumstances Mother Nature throws at you. Whether you're dealing with snowstorms, thunderstorms, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity when the elements take it out. When searching generators for sale, remember that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. For safety purposes, always run your generators outside, away from doors and windows.
What home repairs should I make before winter?
Make sure your home is ready for cold weather by replacing any broken parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be in for major repairs later. On the outside of your home, examine metal roofing panels or roofing shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Gutters should be cleaned to prevent ice dams. Check cinder blocks and brick for cracks, and verify indoor ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. Lastly, change vinyl siding and chimney caps if damaged.
What storage solutions do you offer?
As you prepare for the holidays, make extra space with storage solutions. Shoe racks and other storage containers remove summer belongings from the equation. Garage cabinets keep decorations, tools, and more out of the way. Shield fragile items with moving blankets. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you the space you've been waiting for.
How do I check the balance of my Home Depot gift card?
Home Depot gift cards are a popular choice for housewarming parties, birthdays, and the holidays. DIYers know they're fun to receive and to give. You can buy gift cards at our stores or online at homedepot.com. If you're a recipient, you can visit the Colma II Home Depot and ask a cashier to check the balance for you or check your gift card balance online. Our gift cards can be used to make purchases online or redeemed in-store with no additional fees.
