Frequently Asked Questions About Your Store

Do you have trunk-or-treat ideas or kits?

Who needs trunk-or-treat kits? We've got everything you need to make your own. Easily create your own trunk-or-treat experience with some imagination and a few Halloween decorations. Use small indoor Halloween decorations inside the trunk or just outside of it on tables. Expand the scene with outdoor Halloween decorations, and remember to dress in a matching Halloween costume.

Do I need a generator?

Having a generator means you're prepared for any circumstances life throws at you. Whether you're dealing with strong winds, thunderstorms, or snowstorms, a portable generator lets you enjoy power when the elements take it out. When exploring different generators for sale, remember that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. Always run your generators outdoors, away from doors and windows, for safety purposes.

What home repairs should I make before winter?

Ready your home for colder weather by replacing or repairing faulty parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be headed for trouble. Check brickwork and cinder block for cracks, and verify indoor ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. On the outside of your home, examine metal roofing panels or shingles for rust or damage that could let water leak into your home. Gutters should be clear to prevent ice dams. Lastly, chimney caps and vinyl siding should be swapped if they're damaged.

Are sheds or garage cabinets better for storage?

As you prepare for the holidays, stow what you don't need to enjoy extra space. Shield fragile items with moving blankets. Garage cabinets keep decorations, tools, and more out of the way. Take summer belongings out of the equation with shoe storage and other storage bins. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you the space you've been waiting for.

How do I check my Home Depot gift card balance?

Home Depot gift cards are an excellent present for birthdays, housewarming parties, and the holidays. DIYers know these gift cards are fun to give and to receive. Purchase gift cards at our stores or online at homedepot.com. If you're a recipient, you can check your gift card balance online or visit the Dale City Home Depot and ask a cashier to check the balance for you. Our gift cards can be redeemed in-store or used to make purchases online with no additional fees.

This store is HUGE and has huge inventories!
This store was 1/2 to 1/3 larger than the older Manassas/Chantilly locations I am familiar with. I was looking for Phillips Wiz digital lightbulbs and there was a large selection and plenty of each item in stock. Also, I saw that Home Depot Dale City has a funny collection of Halloween Decorations and Robots for sale!

    Short on store assistance
Waited patiently to ask a question, hinted to employee to request assistance for me while she continued working with another customer, that seemed to go on forever. Never did get any assistance.

Feeling is off, products everywhere to the point you can't navigate the store.
Past few times I have visited this store, the vibe/feeling in the store has felt off. Hard to explain, it just feels like "don't be here". Beyond that this most recent visit I identified one of the issues that makes me not want to be there: over stocked with products. There's so many extra product displays throughout what should be walkways that it feels like you can't navigate through the store safely. If it doesn't fit on your shelves, it needs to go... it's wayyy too much. Imagine trying to get out of this place in an emergency! It would be extremely difficult to get to an exit safely, it is THAT cram packed. Husband and I discussed it the other day about the vibes and we're going to be avoiding this location here on out.

          Plumbing Department Needs Help
Plumbing items were all in wrong boxes and some plastic bags were open, therefore I had to spend much more time looking for the right elbow fitting and coupling, furthermore The Home Depot should have personnel arranging all inventory in the daily basis.

            CUSTOMER Service SUCKS
The Home Depot people I encountered acted like they were doing me a favor instead of Helping, they didn't act like they're not enjoying what they do. Just a Job they don't want a be at. Maybe they don't pay them well enough, I dont know.

Bad Customer Experience - Solicitors & Used products on shelves
Horrible experience. They had multiple solicitors in store that were pushy. The people at the front were yelling after me after I ignored them and the others kept going after I said I don't need their HVAC maintenance service. Customers that come here already have a project in mind, they don't need to be harassed for extra services. The concrete patching mix I was looking for was already used (contents spilled out of the container). I only got a few items and the rest of what was on my list I didn't even purchase because I just wanted to get out of there.

                    Checking out is stressful!
The way this store is set up offers limited space to stand to wait for your turn at a machine that is appropriate for your payment method. It is very stressful to have to check out oneself, especially when you're in a store like Home Depot. When one approaches the check out registers, there is usually one person who seems in charge to direct people to the check out registers but it also seems a point of gathering for employees....they are talking about other things and one or two who are not in the group chatting, are trying to assist customers. It seems very chaotic and there is no way they all are observing customers to see if they are steeling products. Bring back the one-on-one interaction with a cashier, please. Be the first to bring it back and the levels of loss prevention, employee retention, customer service, etc. will improve tremendously. It was fine when there was 4 registers to self-checkout and the other 5 or so registers...this is the closest store for about 14 miles, so many people shop at it. P.S. Just to add a little tidbit, please provide the HVAC sales people a better space...like down by the garden center. They shouldn't be walking around harassing people. It will be nice for them as they will get traffic but also nice for the customers who will enjoy having a conversation about a $7K-$10K purchase, if that inexpensive, in a nice, more private environment than in between an end cap and merchandise in the middle of the floor.
