Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, CFLs, and lead acid batteries for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store cut down energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives such as solar and wind.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates. This commitment extends beyond our stores to our communities and the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

What are some kid-friendly Halloween ideas?
For a holiday that's not spooky, choose Halloween yard decorations that are kid-friendly. Halloween inflatables and Halloween doormats are festive solutions that aren't as spooky as many other outdoor Halloween decorations. Ask your kids what's scary to them – they may be braver than you think.
Should I get a portable generator or an inverter generator?
We've got the variety you need when searching for a generator for sale. Inverter generators are cleaner and quieter than traditional portable generators. They adjust to whatever power load is requested. This means they'll make less noise in times of lesser demand. When searching generators for sale, remember that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. Always run your generators outside, away from doors and windows, for safety purposes.
What home repairs should I make before winter?
Make sure your home is ready for colder weather by replacing any broken or faulty parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in any crevices, you could headed for major repairs down the line. On the outside of your home, examine metal roof panels or roofing shingles for rust or damage that could let water leak into your home. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams. Check brick and cinder blocks for cracks, and verify indoor ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. Lastly, chimney caps and vinyl siding should be changed if they're damaged.
What are some storage solutions for a crowded holiday home?
As you prepare for the holidays, stow unused items to free up space. Garage cabinets keep decorations, tools, and more out of the way. Shoe storage and other storage bins take summer belongings out of the equation. Moving blankets can protect fragile items. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you the space you've been waiting for.
How do I check the balance of my Home Depot gift card?
Home Depot gift cards are an excellent choice for housewarming parties, birthdays, and the holidays. DIYers know these gift cards are fun to give and to receive. Purchase them at our stores or online at homedepot.com. If you receive a gift card, you can check your gift card balance online or visit the Tupelo Home Depot and ask a cashier to check the balance for you. Redeem our gift cards for online or in-store shopping, all with no additional fees.
