Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, and CFLs for recycling.
Our stores sent approximately 5.3M pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63.5K trees. It kept over 16K trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saved over 50M gallons of water, and conserved 7.8M kilowatt hours of electricity.
We have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores since 2010.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to the environment, as well as our communities. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our eco actions.

What Halloween decor is popular?
Many families love Halloween and decorating with ghosts, pumpkins, witches, and of course, skeletons. Our best-selling Skelly, the giant 12-foot skeleton, is ready to watch over your porch or yard. We've got Skelly accessories and Skelly's dog to keep him company. To keep with an all-skeleton theme, we have many other options that incorporate a variety of bones and skulls. Stay dead-set on scary fun with our current Halloween skeleton decor. Halloween inflatables and animatronics are a quick and easy way to add spooky spirit when searching for outdoor Halloween decorations, too.
Is it good to have a generator at home?
We've got the variety you need when searching for a generator for sale. Inverter generators are quieter and cleaner than traditional portable generators. They'll adjust to the required load, making more noise when they create more power. When considering different generators for sale, keep in mind that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. For safety purposes, always run your generators outdoors, away from windows and doors.
Should I do siding repairs before it gets cold?
Ready your home for colder weather by replacing or repairing faulty parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be headed for trouble. On the outside of your home, examine metal roofs or roofing shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams. Check bricks and cinder block for cracks. Indoors, verify ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. Lastly, swap vinyl siding and chimney caps if they're damaged.
What's the best way to store extra holiday decor?
As you prepare for the holidays, make extra space with storage solutions. Shoe storage and other storage bins remove summer belongings from the equation. Garage cabinets keep tools, decorations, and more out of the way. Shield fragile items with moving blankets. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you the space you've dreamed of.
How do I check the balance of my Home Depot gift card?
Gift cards to The Home Depot are a popular choice for any occasion or during the holiday season. DIYers know they're fun to receive and to give. If you receive a gift card, you can check your gift card balance online or visit your local Home Depot store and ask a cashier to check the balance for you.
