Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, CFLs, and lead acid batteries for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store reduced energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives such as wind and solar.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates. This commitment extends beyond our stores to the environment, as well as our local communities. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our eco actions.

What are some non-scary Halloween ideas for kids?
To make sure your little ones aren't scared, pick Halloween yard decorations that are kid-friendly. Halloween inflatables and Halloween doormats are festive solutions that aren't as spooky as many other outdoor Halloween decorations. Ask your kids what's scary to them – they may be braver than you think.
Why should I get a generator?
We've got the options you need when searching for a generator for sale. Inverter generators are quieter and cleaner than traditional portable generators. They adjust to whatever power load is requested. This means they'll make less noise in times of lesser demand. When searching generators for sale, don't forget that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. For safety purposes, always run your generators outdoors, away from doors and windows.
How can I prepare my home for the winter?
Make sure your home is ready for winter weather by repairing or replacing faulty parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be headed for trouble. On the outside of your home, examine roofing shingles or metal roofs for damage or rust that could let water leak in. Gutters should be clear to prevent ice dams. Check brick and cinder block for cracks. Indoors, verify ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. Lastly, swap vinyl siding and chimney caps if in poor condition.
What storage solutions do you offer?
As you prepare for the holidays, give yourself extra space in the house and stow away the rest. Garage cabinets keep decorations, tools, and more out of the way. Shield fragile items with moving blankets. Shoe storage and other storage bins remove summer belongings from the equation. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you the right amount of space.
How do I check the balance of my Home Depot gift card?
Home Depot gift cards are an excellent present for housewarming parties, birthdays, and the holidays. DIYers know these gift cards are fun to give and to receive. Buy gift cards online at homedepot.com or in our brick-and-mortar stores. If you receive a gift card, you can check your gift card balance online or visit your local Home Depot store and ask a cashier to check the balance for you. Redeem our gift cards in-store or use them to shop online with no additional fees.
