How does truck rental work?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what trucks are available for rent. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about renting a Load 'N Go moving truck, pickup truck, or flatbed truck. Penske moving truck rentals and moving vans have different rules. You might also visit our truck rental page to see if the vehicle you need is available at your favorite store.
Can I rent a truck for a few hours?
Rent a truck or moving van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on how long your project is. Don't forget to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you must bring it back to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the provided documentation before selecting a van.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Match the level of gas that was in the tank when you received the rental. When you don't refill the rental truck, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck with only a driver's license?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements.
