About This Product

Make any toggle wall switch automatic with the versatile AutoChron wireless timer. Now, you can control your overhead lights or outdoor lights automatically from a toggle wall switch with no need for rewiring. The AutoChron is fully programmable - you can set it to turn lights off at the same time each day, different times or different days - or even different times on the same day. The AutoChron lets you vary on/off times so that anyone watching your house can not tell whether you're home or away. You don't get that security with any manual timer. Just as important, the AutoChron doesn't "plug into" your devices directly so even if there is a power outage, the AutoChron won't lose its power and will continue to operate as you set it when the power comes back on. Conventional manual timers stop working when there is a power outage so the "on/off" times are lost. The AutoChron installs easily over any wall switch cover. You can put an AutoChron in every room where there is a wall switch and have total control over your overhead lights, fans, etc. You'd have to pay an electrician thousands of dollars to do the same thing.

A: Yes, the Autochron is battery operated. Requires 2 AA batteries which are not included. It does not have to be wired in so therefore, during a blackout, it will not lose its program and can start working right away once the lights come back on.

A: I ever don't have the instruction, but it is some easy to type in the day, time, year to set it up. Then add the times to start & stop the lights. I had a problem with the lights going on when it should not, or not coming on when it should, but I reentered the time to go on and off and corrected the problem and it has worked great after since then.

A: Short answer, no, because the on off switch is integral to the unit. Besides, the switch can be turned on and off by pressing the plastic plate on the front, so the functionality is already there.

Love them

I love it, I had been looking for a programmable timer like that. Bought three before going on vacation a few years ago, worked flawlessly, I still use two, daily and they have been working flawlessly for now 2 years and use the third one occasionally. Unfortunately I had to buy them somewhere else, when I asked about them in several stores no one had a clue

Timer has been excellent to make it look like someone is home when we are away. It works with a standard on-off switch and fits over the existing cover plate, so there is no messy wiring to change. The only items which were not included were a longer (1") machine screw and AA batteries. It is battery-powered, so if the power goes out, it keeps time. When a person wants to have the timer set up but not have it turn lights on or off, a cover plate slides to the side. If it is installed, the "on" and "off" button on the face turns lights on or off manually. The best feature is Program 0, which turns lights on and off at random intervals between midnight and 6 a.m. It makes it look like someone has gotten up in the middle of the night for a few minutes. A person can set up on and off times for Monday through Thursday, or Monday through Friday, or the weekend only, or all week, as well as a different cycle for each day of the week. The only reason I do not give it a perfect 5-star rating is the instruction booklet. It looks like it was not written by a native English speaker (some of the syntax is a little weird). It is best to read the instructions through one time completely before touching the timer. We own two of these timers and purchased another two for a neighbor. I would definitely recommend this product.

Many many years ago I bought two of these. Still using them after ten+ years later....wanted another and was quite surprised that they were available at Home Depot. So I ordered another ASAP! It's to ensure that I don't burn the Garage lights at night unless I really want to. I use them to ensure the Garage/Front Porch/ and Rear Patio lights are turned off during the day, and that the Front Porch and Rear Patio lights come on automatically for the night as security measures. They work like clockwork! Before I had these I would go to work at O-dark thirty and come home at the end of the day only to see the front porch lights burning away in the daylight. What a waste that was - not any longer. Set the time you want to turn on and turn off any light switch - and you can select any day or every day. Its a breeze to setup. Plus you can over ride them with a push of a button.
