Q:when turned on hot, the supply lines recently stated to rattle and jump around, is this faucet going bad?

      Answer This Question

A:  Hi Raven, I'm sorry for any issue with your Delta faucet. There may be air or debris in the lines. Please try flushing the supplies by turning the water off to the shower, removing the handle, bonnet, and cartridge, then turning the supplies on for 1 minute. The back part of the cartridge should rattle when you shake it. This indicates that the pressure balancing spool is working. If you need any help or have questions, please reach out to our customer support team at 1-800-345-3358 or customerservice@deltafaucet.com. Best regards, Jon

A:  No, That is water hammer that you are experiencing. You may have water lines that have come loose where they may not have been properly attached in or on the walls and Subfloors. If you can trace your water lines and see if they are secured every three to four feet depending on your local code in your area.

Q:Is the round trim metal or plastic?

        Answer This Question

        A:  Metal

        by|May 4, 2023

A:  The "trim" piece directly behind the handle is chrome covered Brass. This piece can be a challenge to unscrew it from the brass valve. It's roll is to hold sufficient pressure against the rubber washers by the ball valve. Once you remove the handle there is an adjustment ring that you can tighten up to increase the pressure. It that doesn't stop the leak, then you will have to unscrew the "trim" piece to remove the ball valve and expose the 2 spring loaded rubber washers from the water supply of hot and cold sides. You can buy new rubber washers at Home Depot for your Delta valve. Now for the challenge of removing the "trim" ring. Use a Pipe Wrench. Do not use channel lock pliers. The danger is if you are not careful you can bend or even break the soft copper tubes between the supply side of the valve to the front delivery side that hold the rubber washers. Channel lock pliers will put squeeze pressure on the ring which tightens the grip on what you are trying to remove. A pipe wrench if applied properly will grip and allow you to work it loose using techniques that qualified plumbers have acquired from years of experience. Ballpark charge is $300.00 (I had a plumber tell me that yesterday) PLUS parts and the wall behind the valve will need repairing and painting because it will have to be removed for access to the supply pipes to the valve. Good Luck!

Had a slight problem with new 2x4 construction installation. Used a 2x4 brace behind body valve and it was too wide, changed to a 1x4 and it worked perfectly. Installed over a Delta Classic 400 shower wall kit and had to create a wood brace behind the vinyl shower wall at the body valve to keep the escutcheon from bending the wall when tightening.

              Smooth operation
I had a Delta valve already there since this was a remodel but it hadn't been used in many years and it was the old style brass ball type and I was affraid to change to the newer cartridge style but my contractor and my wife insisted I do and I did and am very pleased with the new valve.

I had this (not sure if the same, mine says its a Monitor) installed in the walk-in shower last summer when we had a bathroom remodeled and I have had absolutely nothing but trouble ever since. It is not a consistent problem though and I have no idea what is happening. It won't cut off unless I take it apart and reset the springs and gasket. Then, it may last 20 minutes or two months. It will start spraying on it own with the handle in the off position. I have a pretty good analytical mind and I am stumped. I contacted Delta and while I was working things out with them, the thing began to perform just fine. It makes no sense. The way it is installed, access to the cutoff valves are in the kitchen and rather than go to the trouble of elaborating, it is an accident waiting to happen and part of a wall will have to be removed to fix it. It has began to mess up again, and I think that its the gaskets and springs and not the cartridge itself. I read where people will buy a new unit, take out the new springs and gaskets and put the old ones in and then carry it back and exchange it. My wife remembered that the box had been opened on ours and this may very well be what has been the cause of our trouble. I don't mind buying new parts if it had worked for a reasonable period of time, but this thing has been trouble, off and on, for a year and a half. I am in the process of trying to contact Delta again. This may not actually be a problem that Delta is not responsible for, but it has their name on it, and a lifetime warranty with it.

                        Disappointed
I thought the quality of Delta is really wanting. The round cover was SO thin seemed cheap. Was also disappointed that you can not control the flow more just a off/on top adjust faucet...wouldn't buy this one again
