Bought this heater because the $40 dollar torpedo heater i bought previous thats from 1987 decided to stop running, it was cold and i need heat in my shop, so i figured if i bought something brand new i should have a piece of mind and not have too worry about it. Went to the local home depot in waterbury because the website siad 2 were in stock. Spent almost an hour searching the store with employees to not find anything. Called the wallingford store and they had it. Recieved a $50 discount for the inconvience which would have been perfect if the product was worth it, owned the unit about a month and then it quit. They sent a paper specifally with the unit to not return it and too call customer service. Called customer service and have been sent the wrong parts the past 3 weeks, the air pump disc in the back of the fan grenaded and they cant seem to send me the correct one, will be returning by the end of the week! Nothing is made like it was back in the day! Got more use out of a heater from the 80s than this, would not recomend

Must be a popular item and much sought after because the first one I ordered from HomeDepot.com suspiciously "disappeared" with UPS... but I still wanted one so I drove an hour and a half to a Home Depot that actually had one in stock. I like that it can run on multiple different fuels, so I went to the local fill up station and got 5 gallons of diesel. Assembly was simple as it's just attaching the top handle and some plastic brackets to wrap an extension cable around, which I did not put on. Filled it up, plugged it in, and bingo-bango I had heat! I have a slightly oversized two car garage, and the first day I actually used it to heat the area it was 22F degrees when I turned it on. In about an hour it was 60F!! I would definitely recommend this product, but maybe find one at a store and pick it up yourself.

            excellent heater
I purchased this heater 6 months ago and love this thing. I use it to heat my 2.5 car garage for my winter projects/hangout area. This easily heats the garage to my desired temp of 70 degrees within a few minutes, and the thermostat is a great feature that keeps it at that temperature. Yeah it stinks a little, but its kerosene, what do you expect?! Ive monitored the CO levels and the output is minimal. Absolutely reccommended!

Straight out of the box the pump pressure will not go above 4psi but the instructions say is should be adjusted to 5.5psi. I can screw the adjustment out and drop it to zero but screwing it in all the way until it bottoms out will not go over 4 PSI. Does not burn properly and sometimes puffs smoke. This is running on straight Kerosene never had this issue with other brand heaters. If I had kept the receipt and box I would have returned it.

An excellent kerosene heater for heating large areas. I use this to heat my garage (with ventilation of course) and keep me warm on the driveway working on my cars during the winter months. It heats my 2 car garage very quickly and i can work in jeans and a t-shirt after a few minutes of running. I love the fact that it uses multiple fuel types, but i use the 1-K Kerosene. Manufacturer states that it uses 0.6 gallons per hour. I've not measured but i'm still on the same 2.5 gal jug and i used it for several hours last winter and a few times so far this year. The thermostat is useful for maintaining a certain temperature in the workspace and the dual power source cable is something i never noticed, but is super convenient. It basically allows you to daisy chain the heater or use either end of a extension cord. As far as the sound, it is super loud, but that is to be expected with forced air kerosene heater of this size. All in all an excellent heater to keep you warm in cold environments

Of course I can only speak of my OWN product experience; naturally, there will ALWAYS be outliers, flukes, isolated cases of quality-assurance issues to any manufactured products. Absorb but always take reviews with a grain of salt. That said...MY experience with the Dura-Glo torpedo has been nothing short of EXCEPTIONAL And MY Life Luck with basically and generally EVERYTHING is sub-zero at best. I believe I am also well-qualified to make an informed review and opinion because I OWN THREE of these. In fact, I just purchased several [more] new ones Nov 2018. I NEVER had a problem or failure. I know it is wrong, but even left some tanks full over summer. I have used off-road diesel, fuel oil and kerosense. But generally Fuel oil. Instead of moving my heater around where I need or use it, I just bought several. I have a KA80H 5-gal tank 80,000 btu unit I use my 24x24 house garage in winter. Once you warm your concrete and keep a stable temp...I used but 2-3 per WEEK; granted, I used 5gal a DAY to start out with but it was also 5 F at the time. I ALSO have the larger KA135HA 135,000 btu unit with10-gal tank which has proven bulletproof and NEVER failed me or my dad which we use for our 40x22 stone garage with 14-ft ceilings. As per other folks reviews, my KA135 will heat up that place to t-shirt level in 10 minutes. But MORE importantly, and perhaps MOST important [aside from being a fail-safe heat source for me & dad in all my use & years of my many Dura-Glo's] is that the Auto-shutoff has performed nominally, and quite ACCURATELY regarding temp. ALSO, the temp sensor seems very good, not a drastic range and sway between [ 4-5degrees maybe for the ON on low side, and almost dead on for Atuo shutoff. I keep or perform regular venthilation during use, and used them outdoors in 2grees changing a diesel starter. Lifesaver to say the least. I had an older, but barely used USA-MADE torpedo before these, fell on hard times with medical bills [ I dont have the luxry of welfare or medicaid] sold and lost everything. Moment you sell something, you suddenly NEED it. Plenty sure there's plenty folks who've been there, too. Anyways.. I never thought Id ever find another rock solid reliable torpedo after my old one. Yeah, I suffered thru few cold experiences reading reviews, researching every brand under the sun. I decided to go all in and put all my cards on these Dura-Glos and HD. My truck was down at the time, and the wheeled 135,000 btu was the largest box i could fit into my old-school baby benz at the time. While Im just a medical professional, hobbyist DIYr and not actual working man in construction... EITHER of these units really gets it done. With 100K plus units...use common sense...enure yo have a clear path in front of these bc the HD blowers in the larger units kick total A!@#$ good distance. Total awesome. Necessary or not, I Dont mess around; go big or stay home. I dont NEED The larger units, but liked the wheels [as Im gettin up in age myself and learning to be lazy] but also felt they are worth the extra $100-$200 for the: better HD fans, on-board temp display and self-diagnostics [tho never needed or used, thankfully]. Just Nice knowing the diagnostics are there, and seeing the displayed temp on the larger unit helped me monitor the accuracy of the sensor and auto-on/off function verses regular thermometer hanging on walls. Again, I can only speak for myself, and the many units i have and my experience. I NEVER have luck with anything, stuff life or otherwise...but really won big here. I HOPE you guys/gals have the same experience. I did consider TS store brand...but only bc they are a mere 4miles down the road. But ultimately put my faith in these and buying from HD. I even paid full price and not complaining. My photo is my LATEST newest smaller 80K btu unit for my house garage to get busy with holiday decorating season. Yes, I have lot of stuff and boxes pretty close. Just rushed to get photo up for folks. Not sure if can update further photos displaying more safe usage technique and surrounding area. I hope this review helps and guides folks in their research and decision. Im handy so i can fix anything, so I did not buy extended warranty. It turns out i never needed it & hope you will be as fortunate should you choose these Dura-Glo units. Did i just jinx myself? even if i did, all my experience and good service in past with them, for me they already paid for themselves. I bought three more so Im obviously biased at this point. When you DO find something that actually works...you stick with it [until their brand starts to wain like all products and brands, eventually] One does have to be realistic. We all seen examples of this I am sure.

Wow, does this thing put out some heat with Kerosene. Just set the thermostat and hit the power switch and it starts and stops by itself. The temp of the room shows on a digital readout. Nice. Was easy to assemble the handles and wheels and didn't take long. The wheels are solid, and don't feel cheap like other plastic wheels. Just used it for a few hours this first day, not sure how long trouble free operation will last, but i like this unit. 10 gallon tank for 10 hours continuous run. Nice fuel gage as well. Working in a 1200 sq foot house, heated it from 40 degrees to 70 in 5 or 10 min max, then shut itself off. Open a couple windows per manual, and you good and safe to go.

HomeDepot shipped to me just in time before the extreme cold weekend, however the box was missing the axle. It states do not return to store call us instead, so I did and they are not open on the weekend, so much for good customer service. I then called on monday and waited on the phone for 20 min. They said they would send one out but it would take 5 to 7 days.
