How does truck rental work?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see which vans or trucks you can rent. If you'd like to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about renting a Load 'N Go pickup truck, cargo van, or flatbed truck. Penske moving van rentals and moving trucks have different rules. You might also check out our truck rental page to see if the vehicle you need is in stock at your local store.
How long can I rent a truck?
Rent a truck or moving van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Be sure to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you'll need to return it to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the provided documentation before choosing a vehicle.
Do I need to refuel the rental truck when I'm done?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Match the level of gas that was in the tank when you got the rental. If you don't, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck with only a driver's license?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements.
