Impeller vs. Agitator Washing Machines

Both impeller and agitator washing machines use friction to clean clothes and other laundry. They do this with discs or fins. The major difference is where these parts are located in the machine. In an agitator washer, the fins cover a post or spindle in the middle of the drum. With an impeller washer, the discs are located at the bottom of the drum.
