How to Create Halloween Yard Decor

Create this fun, slightly creepy Halloween decor that will put some thrill into your landscape this season.

Gather Your Materials

Materials:
- Panel Insulation Sheathing (6-pack)
- Ten 12-inch grade stakes
- Four 18-inch cedar lath
- Wood glue
- Painter's Tape
- Paint
- Paint tray and foam roller
- Sponge
Optional:
- Halloween decor
- Moss
- Lantern
Tools:
- Jigsaw with a scroll blade
- Pin nailer
- Tape measure
- Pencil
- Safety googles
- T-square
- Low-temp glue gun
Make the Cuts

- Two foam pieces, cut in half to approximately 14-inches x 24-inches.
- One foam piece cut at 14-inches x 18-inches.
- Three foam pieces cut into various tombstone shapes.
- Four 18-inch pieces of cedar lath.
Assemble the Post

Using a low-temp glue gun, assemble the four sides of the post and attach the top.
Tip: Use some painter's tape to secure the sides as the glue sets.
Paint a Base Coat

Using a foam roller, paint a base coat on the graveyard post and tombstones.
Paint a Faux Texture

- Mix some of the basecoat color with some black and white paint.
- Use a sponge to paint a faux brick pattern onto the post.
Paint Details

Go back over and sponge highlights and low lights to enhance the look of brick.
Prepare the Tombstone

- Mix different shades of gray and paint the tombstones.
- Once the paint is dry, attach moss patches using the glue gun.
Build the Fence

- Attach two 18-inch lath pieces onto the front of the stakes using the wood glue and pin nailer.
- Repeat and make another section.
Attach the Tombstones

Attach the tombstones to the front of the mini wood fence sections with the glue gun.
Add Additional Details

Attach the faux chain to the post using four screws and add in the spiderwebs.
Tip: Lightly hand-tighten the screw.
Finish the Spooky Scene
