Stack the Crates

The first step is to collect or purchase several wooden crates. The crates look best if all are the same color.
Next, stack crates to form a stand at least waist height. Begin with the largest crates for stability. If desired, turn several crates on their sides to use as shelves. Be sure the station is stable. In place of crates, a small outdoor table works well, too.
Stock with Bug Repellent and Accessories

Stock the station with several different types of bug spray and bug repellent accessories. Add a decorative metal bucket or a small planter to corral the bottles.
Next, add tiki torches and citronella candles throughout your yard. These help create a bug-free perimeter around your outdoor entertaining area.
For broader control, treat your lawn with insect control to keep mosquitos and other pesky bugs away.
Another option is to strategically place mosquito coils, mosquito repellent bracelets and mosquito dunks around your yard. Mosquito dunks kill mosquito larvae naturally in standing water but do not harm pets, birds, fish or any wildlife. There are lots of options for controlling mosquitos in your outdoor space.
Consider Plants That Repel Mosquitos

Once you have your mosquito repellent station set up, consider adding plants that repel mosquitos naturally, such as rosemary, citronella mosquito plant, lemon thyme, peppermint, lavender, cat mint, lemon balm and others.
Quickly transplant small pots of herbs into pretty planters. Also consider crushing herb leaves to carry the fragrance with you as another way to help keep bugs at bay.

Now it’s time to enjoy. Don’t forget to light candles and torches about 15 minutes before the party starts so that they begin working before guests arrive.
