Gather the Supplies

Paper, twine, scissors, marker and a mason jar lying on a table.

You’ll need a glass jar or canister with a lid, colorful papers, a piece of cardstock, ribbon or twine, marker and scissors. You can use any type of jar with a lid. If you have a colorful glass jar on hand, that will work too! The strips of paper need to be at least 1-inch in width.

Write Your Love Notes

Have the kids write what they love about their mom. They don’t need to worry about spelling or proper sentence structure. This is all about expressing their sentiments in their own voice. Once they’ve filled out all the strips, fold them in half and then in half again.

Make a Label

Using your scissors, cut out a heart from a piece of cardstock or construction paper.

Decorate

A pink heart cutout with mom written on it and a marker and scissors on a table.

Punch a hole at top of the heart. Next, write mom in the center of the heart. Feel free to decorate the label any way you like.

Gift

A jar with a pink paper heart ties to it with flowers, twine and paper on a table.

Put the folded strips of paper into the jar. Tie the paper heart around the neck of the jar with the twine or ribbon and it’s ready for gifting.
