Homer buckets can be transformed into ghoulishly fun jack-o'-lanterns with the help of a puck light and black marker. Another fun idea is to gather the kiddos together with paint, colorful markers, glitter and cotton balls to decorate the outside of the bucket.
Birdhouse

If you want to get really crafty with a Homer bucket, consider making a DIY birdhouse. Simply follow the instructions below to create your own cute orange birdhouse.
Tools and materials:
- Homer bucket
- drill
- drill bit
- hole saw
- sander
- wood planks
- rope
- woodchips/animal bedding
- animal safe and waterproof paint (optional)
Before drilling, decide where you want your holes, or entrances, to be, how many you want and how big you want them. Use any size drill bit to give you the desired hole size. Drill through the plastic bucket, then use a hole saw to make your holes wider. Smooth out the edges of the holes so the birds don't hurt themselves as they travel in and out of the house.
Fill the inside of your bucket with whatever you’d like. You can cut up planks and arrange them inside to create places for birds to sit. Or, you can even add a bird feeder inside, along with something cushy like sawdust or woodchips for tired birds to rest on. (Most birds will provide their own nesting, so this isn’t always necessary.)
You can also paint the outside of the home however you’d like. Get creative! Just make sure to use animal-safe and water-proof paint.
Lastly, either hang your birdhouse, or create a stand for it. If hanging, drill small holes at the top of the bucket so you can loop some thick, durable string or rope through the holes, tying the end pieces together at the top. Then, hang the birdhouse over a sturdy branch, making sure the home is secure.
As long as your bird can get in and out, you’ve made a bird house!
Extra Seating

The Homer bucket is really handy during outdoor activities like camping trips. Add a cushion and your favorite fabric to the bucket lid to create a convenient place to sit. In a pinch, the bucket can be used as a toilet by adding a trash bag and cutting a pool noodle to act as a seat
cushion.
Wet/Dry Vacuum

The Homer bucket can be paired with
bucket head wet/dry vacuum to make clean up a breeze. This versatile machine can pick up clunky objects such as nails or small wood scraps. It can also help with wet messes like clogged toilets.
Storage

Homer buckets make great containers to store clutter, games and more. With a bright orange exterior, they're easy to find, whether in the garage, or stored among other bins. You can also use it to house kid’s toys, crafts or lawn tools. It also makes a great storage area for food for furry friends, as the lid will keep away eager noses.
Pairing the Homer bucket with a bucket storage jockey provides seamless organization for your tools, art supplies or any other smaller accessories. It can also be used as a gift basket for family and friends. Father’s Day would be a great opportunity to fill with sports magazines, tools, golf clubs and all the things that he loves.
Planter

Use a Homer bucket as a planter. The first step to making a Homer bucket planter is deciding what you want to grow. Choose between numerous plants and edibles. Also decide if your Homer bucket will be more decorative, or have practical applications, such as growing veggies.
Once you’ve chosen what you want to grow, pick up some seeds and the right soil from our Garden Center and get to planting. Follow the growing instructions on the seed packet and watch your Homer bucket garden take shape.
Don't forget to drill a couple small holes in the bottom as well to allow water to drain.
Another great use for the Homer bucket is utilizing it for hydroponics. This is a process where plants grow in a nutrient-rich solution instead of traditional soil, and here's how you do it. Add enough distilled water to your Homer bucket so it will cover the roots of your plant. Keep in mind that for every gallon of water, add two teaspoons of water-soluble fertilizer and one teaspoon of Epsom salts. Next, make a hole through the lid that securely holds your plant in place and allows its roots to be submerged in the hydroponic solution. Now you're ready to grow your favorite plants and veggies in an interesting and innovative way.
Compost Bin

If you’re looking for a way to create your own organic fertilizer for the step above, the Homer bucket is great for composting. It’s as easy as throwing all your organic waste into the bucket and letting nature do the rest. The air eventually breaks down the waste and transforms it into a humus-like material that is excellent for nourishing your garden and plants.
The Homer bucket is the perfect container for collecting food waste and other organic materials. Line your bucket with a compostable bag and remember to use a lid to keep pests away. Now, you're one step closer to organic fertilizer.
Cooler and Trash Can

And what makes them even more efficient are their lids. If no one’s grabbing drinks, simply put on the lid to keep the interior cold and the drinks chilled.
