How to Make 3-Ingredient Candied Apples

This simple recipe involves just a few items. You’re like to have many of these and household ingredients in your pantry already.
Of course, you’ll also need some apples. Tart or crisp varieties work best. Honeycrisp or Granny Smith are two varieties to consider.
Here's what you'll need:
- Measuring cups
- Candy thermometer
- Wooden skewers
- Saucepan
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup water
- 6 firm, tart apples
- Sea salt, to taste
Mix Sugar and Water

- Pour two cups of sugar and one cup of water into your saucepan.
- Add your candy thermometer into the saucepan.
- Place it over high heat on the stove. Bring to a boil.
Skewer and Dip Apples

- While the sugar-water comes to a boil, skewer the apples through their base.
- Once the thermometer reads between 295 to 310 degrees Fahrenheit, dip and swirl the apples in the hot sugar-water.
- Let the candied apples cool on a parchment-lined sheet pan.
Tip: While we didn't remove the stem from the apples before skewering, you may consider doing so.
Cool Apples and Create Crowns

- While the candied apples cool, pour the rest of the sugar-water into a bowl filled with cold water to create a crown-like garnish to top the apples.
- Once the crowns have hardened, remove them from the water and set them on a baking sheet.
- Remove the skewers from the apples and top each with a caramel crown.
- Sprinkle the garnished candied apples with a pinch of sea salt for a savory finishing touch.
How to Make Chocolate Witch Hat Cookies

With some store-bought wafers and some chocolate chips, you can create a festive cookie. Kids will love helping to add the top of the hat to the wafer. Don't be afraid to let making this Halloween treat get a little messy.
Here's what you'll need:
- Measuring cups
- Baking sheet
- Cooling rack
- Microwave-safe bowl
- 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup bran cereal
- 10 to 12 chocolate wafers or any circular chocolate cookie
Melt Chocolate

- Start by pouring 1/4 cup of chocolate chips into a mixing bowl. Make sure the bowl microwave safe.
- Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave for about 40 seconds.
- Let the melted chips cool on countertop for 3 minutes.
Add Cereal and Mix

How do you make the perfect hat material? With bran cereal.
- Once your melted chocolate has cooled, add 1/2 cup of bran cereal to your bowl.
- Stir the cereal into the chocolate.
- Refrigerate the mixture for at least 5 minutes.
- While the mix is cooling, arrange the wafers on the baking sheet or a tray.
Top the Wafers with Mix

Now it's time to finish your hats.
- Once the mixture is chilled, measure it out a spoonful at a time. Mold each portion into a triangular, pointy hat shape.
- Press each triangle of cereal and chocolate onto the wafers to form “hats.”
- Refrigerate the finished hats for at least 10 minutes before serving.
