A Dark and Gothic Home for The Holidays
The holidays are here and it’s the best time of the year to create a dark and cozy ambiance for your home. If you want to shake things up this season, dark, gothic decorations can make your space look festive, cozy, and vintage at the same time.

Black Tree and DIY Ornaments
Of course, no gothic home is complete without a black Christmas tree. The amazing thing about a black tree is the opportunity to have the focal point be the textures, shapes, and colors of the ornaments and trimmings. Create a vintage and gothic feel for your tree by DIYing ornate moulding appliques into ornaments.
Start by drilling a small hole into the applique to feed a hook through later for hanging. Then, spray paint them all blackas a base layer. Lastly, spray a small amount of metallic spray paint onto the cap to gather excess paint and use a stiff brush to stipple the paint onto the appliques. To create a dimensional and aged look stipple on bronze metallic spray paint.

These ornaments look like they came straight out of the gothic era. They did just the trick for this black Christmas tree!

Create a Cozy Mantel
You can still have a gothic feel without all-black decorations. Decorations in a deeper and darker color variety do just the trick. Thisgarland is perfect for the mantel because it has several types of greenery plus built-in lights to create a cozy design with lots of texture. Paired with other decorative accents and several black candles, the mantel becomes a focal point and elevates the look of the room.

Whether you have a faux or real fireplace, don’t miss the opportunity to decorate the inside. Place several flameless candles in the fireplace to make the most of the space and lean into the gothic, medieval ambiance.

Tie It All Together
Presents under the tree shouldn’t be overlooked. This is the perfect small detail to tie together your dark and gothic theme. It’s as simple as wrapping them in black paper and topping it off with an ornate and vintage patterned ribbon. This gift wrapping gives a gothic and chic touch with the gold details in the ribbon.
