Designing a Chic and Patterned Filled Bathroom Escape
This Haven bathroom space is designed to be a rich and bold escape filled with pattern and color. Whenever I’m designing a space, I start with the one feature that will take up the most visual space and then I layer on elements until the room is decorated! For this room, the first layer I focused on was the floor and wall coverings. Because I was dealing with adhesive tile, I wanted to set the tone with these two surfaces. I started with a graphic black and white tile for the floor. I love the pattern on this tile and how it grounds the space with a bold bright pattern.
Because I went with a more neutral floor tile, I wanted to bring in lots of color on the walls. Green is having a real moment in design and these adhesive green floor tiles are rich and vibrant and a perfect option for the walls. I opted to mount them vertically stacked for a somewhat more updated look behind the bathtub.
To keep the space on budget and also to add another decorative moment, I used wallpaper on the second wall in the space. This green floral paper complements both the floor tile and the wall tile and gives me some colors to play with for the rest of the space. When designing a bathroom, the tile is one of the more expensive materials so don’t hesitate to use it sparingly especially when you can balance the color saturation with something like this bright wallpaper.
Because this is The Home Depot booth, obviously I wanted to bring in some orange!

For a space like a bathroom, there aren’t as many orange options as in other rooms, but when I searched The Home Depot website I found this amazing orange vessel sink and some orange pendant lights. I will often search for items and then filter for specific colors to help me find the right selection. Both are unexpected moments of color for a bathroom which I love! The vessel sink meant I needed to find a dresser to retrofit as a vanity so I opted for this modern graphite color. Both the shape and the color coordinate perfectly with the modern lines of the floor and the colorful design of the wallpaper.
A large soaker tub brightens the space and reminds us how luxurious a bathroom can be especially when paired with lush wall mounted planters above. Finishing touches like that Atlanta wall art, a simple round mirror to echo the pattern on the floor and some whimsical orange linens complete the space.

Bathrooms can be a challenging room to design because of non-negotiables like bathtubs, vanities and toilets, but they don’t need to be boring! By making bold choices with surface treatments like tiles and wall coverings you can set the foundation for a vibrant layered space. Decorative accents like baskets or unique wall art or fun bath linens are the icing on the decor cake.
