Festive DIY Gift Wrapping Idea

Destiny is the girl behind Just Destiny. She's a native of Arizona, where she raises her three children, alongside her groom. After quitting her job as a first grade teacher to raise her children, she quickly found a passion for all things home and started blogging to share with other home enthusiasts. Creating beautiful things and a beautiful life can be considered vain, but she believes beauty brings others together. Whether it’s through a smile, laugh, fresh flowers, bike rides, hiking in search for the sun rise, chocolate chip cookies, a made bed, or a painted wall.
A Note From The Home Depot
Destiny Alfonso of Just Destiny Mag thought outside the box and chose buckets to use as part of our Holiday Style Challenge. Using supplies from The Home Depot, Destiny created a festive, practical and very pink DIY idea that fits her personal style. I’m excited to be back today with another Home Depot Style Challenge! Last time you saw me clean up my patio and give it an all new look, today I’m thinking outside the box with festive DIY gift wrapping ideas for this holiday season! As I was walking through the spacious aisles of The Home Depot I was so surprised on how many ways you could wrap gifts with the supplies off the shelves!
But when faced with endless ideas and possibilities, I ended up choosing buckets! I did this for a couple of reasons.
- Buckets are affordable and can be used AFTER the gift is open.
- They make a great display item around the Christmas tree!
Check out some of the ways I transformed Home Depot’s galvanized buckets and white buckets!
Galvanized Bucket for a Gardener

To start the fun, I purchased a 50 ft. garden hose and placed it inside of the bucket. A hose and bucket are PERFECT gifts for the eager gardener in you life. They will appreciate such a cute and practical gift! Simply wrap the hose into a 10 qt. galvanized pail. For bigger hoses you can use the 17 gallon pail.

Next, I spray painted these plastic address numbers and then used Scotch Mounting Tape to attach them to the buckets. I love using numbers to decorate and these were the perfect size for this project.
Large Pink “Merry Little Christmas” Bucket

Another great thing about buckets is that they come in different sizes! For another festive DIY gift wrapping idea, I spray painted this large 5 gallon bucket with Rust-Oluem berry pink spay paint. After the bucket dried (about 2 hours) I applied a vinyl sign I made made using my cutting machine!

Large buckets like this are a perfect fit for the Ryobi flashlight and 18-volt lithium-ion battery or any other goodies you can stuff in there!

I also added some sparkle by using Scotch Glitter Tape around the edges of the bucket.

To hide the gifts I used affordable packing paper. You can find this in the packing section at The Home Depot along with tape and boxes and all other types of supplies that are perfect for festive DIY gift wrapping.

Small Pink Bucket With Tree

For this bucket I spray painted the entire bucket again with Rust-Oleum Berry Pink spray paint. Don’t you just love this fun pink color for Christmas? You can use any color to match the theme of your tree.
After it dried, I use a cutting machine to cut out vinyl Christmas items and attached it to the bucket. You can also use white contact paper and cut out shapes yourself for a similar look!
Small Galvanized Bucket “Hohoho”

For the small bucket I used vinyl lettering again to display the jolly saying “hohoho”.

After that I used the glittered duck tape on the tops and bottoms of the bucket. Inside I wrapped a Husky screwdrivers set using packing paper and then again as the “tissue” paper on top.
I hope these simple ideas for festive DIY gift wrapping help you get creative this holiday season! How awesome is it to get EVERYTHING done during one stop? Gifts and easy DIY gift wrapping supplies all at The Home Depot!
