How to Renovate a Bedroom on a Budget
The idea of renovating a bedroom or giving a bedroom a “glow up” can seem like a daunting task. But I promise you, it’s really not! One of the easiest ways to change the vibe in any room is with paint. A fresh coat of paint will completely transform a bedroom, can be done on a budget and usually doesn’t take very long! In this blog post I will share how you can give a bedroom a much-needed glow up without breaking the bank, using Glidden Diamond wall paint.

Glidden Diamond wall paint is a great budget-friendly paint that is a one-coat paint and primer in one. It has great coverage, it’s ultra-scrubbable meaning it's easy to clean and starts at less than $30 a gallon. Because of this, Glidden Diamond wall paint is a great alternative for high traffic areas. You don’t have to be afraid of scratching the paint off the wall when cleaning it – it adheres to surfaces very well.
Prep Your Work Area and Walls
First things first, you want to prep your work area. I like to use a combination of plastic and fabric drop cloths depending on the size of the job. These are the ones I had on hand but any plastic drop cloth will do.

In order to get the best adherence, you want to go through and clean the walls, patching and filling any areas that need it. Use spackle to fill in any old nail holes and take a damp cloth and wipe down the walls. Fast’N Final is a great option for spackle because it dries in 30 minutes.

Painting
Once you’ve gathered your supplies, pick a color from the many colors Glidden has to choose from. If you don’t find a color you love you can always have the people at The Home Depot color match one too! Glidden Diamond wall paint has four sheens to choose from - flat/matte, satin, eggshell and semi-gloss. Pick your sheen according to the type of room you are painting. For bedroom walls I prefer satin or eggshell and in this case, went with a satin sheen in the color Licorice.

Whether you decide to “cut in” the edges first or last is really a preference thing – I usually like to cut in first and then paint the walls. This is the brush I like to use.

I have textured walls in my home, so I use a roller with a thicker nap to get better coverage. I find that if I use a good roller and saturate the roller, I can get it done in one coat with very little touchups. This is the roller
I bought for my textured walls, to get that really great one-coat coverage.

Decorating or Styling the Room
To finish off the room I bought faux linen curtains, a curtain rod , a rug and a cute olive tree to add greenery. I love the way this room turned out and I’m excited to have guests stay here. This space really needed some love and I’m glad I was able to get all my supplies from The Home Depot and turn this bedroom into a beautiful space. My budget was $500 and after paint, supplies and décor, I only spent $400! Not bad, right?
