Sometimes small upgrades are all you need to make a vintage bathroom functional! Our upstairs bathroom at the new house was pretty cute to begin with, complete with pink pinstripe wallpaper, Montgomery Ward medicine cabinets, extendable towel rods and double wall-mounted sinks. But the faucets were busted and needed replacing. So, we teamed up with The Home Depot to bring in innovative and stylish new faucets to this old space.

Before we talk about the problem spots in this bathroom, let's start with what we love about it. Because there’s A LOT we love about this bathroom: the side-by-side sinks, ample storage in the matching medicine cabinets, cute pull-out towel bars and a pretty-in-pink vibe that’s oh so fun. When our daughter walked into this room for the first time she squealed with delight and declared the space hers! A vintage bathroom can be so much fun! But unfortunately, the faucets weren’t aging well - they were cracked and corroded and needed replacing.

We decided to swap these busted faucets for the Glacier Bay Nadina fountain faucet. It’s called a fountain faucet because a gentle arc of water will stream from the top of the spout with the push of a button. Such a cool feature!

I can think of many times when I’ve battled with a short vanity faucet - filling a water bottle, getting a quick drink, rinsing my face, washing hair. With these Nadina fountain faucets, you can stream the water wherever’s most convenient. And most importantly our kids think they’re the coolest and love to use them.

Oftentimes bathrooms in old houses are small, but this bathroom has plenty of space. The dual sinks mean multiple kids can brush their teeth and get ready for bed without stepping on each other’s toes. And the layout is simple, spacious and functional.

We made a few other light changes to the bathroom. I swapped my grungy towels for a new soft white towel set, extra hand towels and bath mats. I’m a little embarrassed to admit it, but I’m notorious for keeping grungy towels well past their prime. Turns out replacing them feels good!

We also swapped the floral shower curtain for a simple white shower curtain. While I love all the pink in here, the flowers were just a bit too much for me.

Lastly, we picked out a durable and cute step stool for our six-year-old. She couldn’t quite reach the faucet handles before and would climb on the tub to brush her teeth, usually with wet feet. This durable (and cute!) stool gives her a lot more independence in this space and I don’t have to worry about her slipping.
We’ll likely do a more substantial renovation in this room down the road (I would love to get some natural light in the space), but this little upgrade is everything we need until then!
