New Traditions
Published December 18, 2023

Jordan and Barry, aka the Brownstone Boys are interior designers, DIY-ers, and Renovation Project Managers in Brooklyn, NY. They started their blog and Instagram account the day they closed on their 130-year-old historic Brooklyn brownstone, and have shared their renovation journey sharing their learnings, and tips to help other people ever since. They have a passion for old homes and everything that comes along with them: the details, the quirks, the character, and especially the parts that need lots of love. Seeing projects through all the way to the end alongside their clients is important to them, and as designers and renovation project managers, they work through the whole journey from the purchase of property to the design and build, until the job is complete and move-in ready.

Celebrating Togetherness: The Brownstone Boys’ Guide to New Traditions
Here at Brownstone Boys HQ, we celebrate Christmas and Hanukkah! Over the years we’ve kept up our favorite traditions from both of our families, like lighting the menorah and stuffing stockings. As a couple, we’ve also created some new traditions together, like decorating our brownstone and cooking up a storm. Now, we make a special point every year to decorate for both holidays while making some of our favorite Hanukkah specialties and some Christmas goodies.
Our little tradition is all about turning our home into a cozy, holiday-themed haven. Thanks to The Home Depot, this is totally fun to plan and simple to execute. We bopped over to our local store and stocked up on all the holiday ambiance essentials, along with necessities to whip up something savory and something sweet: latkes and cookies!
The first step in our holiday preparation is setting the stage with some holiday décor. We love the Home Accents range; it has everything from lights and table decor to faux evergreen wreath and garland. These pieces create a warm, inviting atmosphere, perfect for our special night.
Next comes the heart of our evening – the food. Cooking together is one of our favorite ways to connect. Using our KitchenAid Classic from The Home Depot, making our favorite cookies is so simple. Especially baking for a crowd, this mixer is a must-have.
For our latkes, our new GreenLife stainless steel pans help us get that perfect crispiness! These pans are free of harmful chemicals and can go seamlessly between the stovetop and our oven. No cold latkes here! Added bonus–we totally feel like Carmy from The Bear!
These tools aren't just functional; they add joy to the cooking process, reminding us that it's not just about the food, but the memories made while preparing it.
In the midst of our busy holiday season, these moments of laughter shared and joy in togetherness are priceless. We want to extend our festive cheer to you too. Happy holidays from us, the Brownstone Boys! May your season be filled with love, joy and the warmth of shared moments.
Remember, whether you're planning a fun night for your favorite folks or decking the halls, The Home Depot has you covered for all your holiday essentials.
