Nursery to Big Boy Room Reveal
One of the things they don't prepare you for in parenthood is the surge of emotions that come with changing your child's room from a nursery to a "big kid" room. I wasn't quite ready for it, but my three-year-old couldn't contain his excitement when I mentioned the transition. As he's currently obsessed with cars and construction, I made it my priority to fill his room with all things related, along with his favorite colors.

When the time came to transform this space into a big boy bedroom, I knew I wanted to give it a completely new look compared to his nursery. While I kept some of the larger furniture pieces, such as the dresser, rug, and chandelier, the room now looks completely different thanks to a fresh coat of paint. For the shiplap accent wall, we opted for Glidden's Diamond Interior Paint and Primer in the color Gray Shadows, which creates a striking statement. Gray Shadows is a cooler shade of gray that complements the room's cool tones, like the navy rug and bedding. The gray accent wall added the perfect touch of coziness and dimension to the space.

Paint Selection
When selecting a paint brand, I sought something that would be user-friendly for someone with limited DIY experience like myself, yet durable enough for a child's bedroom. Glidden Diamond Interior Paint + Primer in Gray Shawdows Eggshell exceeded my expectations, applying seamlessly and requiring just one coat. It's easy-to-clean and stain-resistant formula made it the ideal choice for a kids' bedroom.

Bedding
For the bedding, I wanted to stick with our car and construction theme while ensuring practicality for Florida's weather. This chambray duvet cover is lightweight enough for the hotter months, providing both comfort and coziness. To add a pop of color, I incorporated sheets full of construction trucks and street signs.

Curtains and Shades
My son sleeps better the darker the room is, so I went with these blackout curtains and shades. The white color of the curtain gives the room a classic, but relaxing feel, and since it’s neutral it doesn’t clash with the other colors in the room.

Activity Table
It wouldn’t be a kid’s room if there wasn’t space for toys and activities. My son loves to get creative whether that’s coloring or building legos, and when I came across this natural wood building block table [324700791], I knew it would be the perfect addition. It features a double-sided tabletop center with a block construction surface on one side and a smooth, flat surface on the other for arts and crafts. Additionally, it includes storage bins to easily organize and clean up blocks, toys, and crafts.

I was pleasantly surprised with how easy the room transition was to complete and I am so happy with how it turned out. The best part of undertaking such projects is witnessing the big smile on my son's face every time he enters his new room!
