Every home has its own story, mine just happens to be my childhood home, holding decades of memories. Don't be fooled by its humble appearance; paint is like a wizard's wand, capable of transforming any outdoor space into something extraordinary. Here are seven creative ideas I used to revamp this outdated space into something amazing.
1. Fresh Siding
The makeover started with a fresh canvas - the siding. Sadly, we knew we would have to replace the original siding my grandpa carefully installed over 30 years ago. After much thought, we chose Hardie Board, a durable and weather-resistant material.
2. Paint
Believe it or not, my biggest struggle with this project was finding the right paint color for my uniquely shaped dome home. I tested countless paint samples until I found the perfect one. With my paint chip in hand, The Home Depot was able to match the color perfectly. Opting for BEHR MARQUEE paint was an easy decision, knowing it would not only add to the beauty of my home but also ensure its long-lasting charm for years to come.
3. DIY Gutter Upgrade
Our gutters were in good working condition but just a bit faded, so we opted to give them a makeover with copper paintthat blends perfectly with the stain color. It turned a once overlooked feature into a perfect accent. I just love how the copper pops off the dark paint.
4. DIY Window Roof Upgrade
Adding a window roof to the space not only added interest to the once boring facade but also provides shelter and protection from the elements.
5. DIY Custom Modern Trellis
A custom modern trellis is a showstopper of our makeover. Its sleek lines and contemporary design added a touch of sophistication to the outdoor area. Opting for a rich warm brown stain, it provides the perfect contrast against the siding.
6-7. DIY Window Boxes and Faux Panes
To add a touch of charm, we installed a window box beneath the window and added faux panes. The window box allowed us to incorporate vibrant flowers and plants, bringing life and color into the area. Using the same stain color as the trellis and corbels creates a seamless and polished look.
