Six Reasons You Should Order Your Doors and Windows with The Home Depot's Millwork Virtual Apron Service

Windows and doors are an important part of a home remodel. We are just finishing up a nine-month remodel of our beach home in Ventura, California and I’m happy to have used The Home Depot’s Millwork Virtual Apron (MVA) service.
MVA is an excellent resource for homeowners looking to purchase windows and doors for their homes. Whether you are building a new home, remodeling or simply replacing a door or window, the MVA service can help you make informed decisions and simplify the process.
The Home Depot Millwork Virtual Apron (MVA) is a one-of-a-kind service that also allows customers to purchase windows and doors from the comfort of their own homes. This free service assists customers with their door and window projects and offers a range of services to make the purchasing process as easy and stress-free as possible.
While remodeling our Beach House in Ventura, I was struggling to try to decide on a front door and windows. I reached out to the Home Depot MVA service and received help with product selection, measuring, placing a custom order and helping to answer my material questions.
As you can see, the window and door selections had a dramatic effect on the remodel of our beach house. It’s almost done!

I am so excited about the MVA service that I wanted to share my top six reasons everyone should use The Home Depot MVA service.
Here are my top six.
#1 - Convenient and Easy to Use

The MVA service allows you to purchase windows and doors from the comfort of your own home. You can call the MVA hotline at 1-833-HDAPRON (432-7766) or go online to homedepot.com/mva to request an appointment with an associate. This means you can avoid the hassle of driving to the store and navigating through the selection process on your own.
I loved that I didn’t have to leave my home to go to a physical store to purchase windows and doors. This is particularly useful for those who are unable to travel or for those who are looking for a more convenient way to purchase windows and doors.
The same day I called the MVA hotline, I received an email that I was assigned to Jeff, who was the associate to assist me from our first call to the day our door was installed.
Most importantly, I should mention that this service is free of charge. MVA is the only service of its kind on the market and is exclusive to The Home Depot.
#2 - Expert Assistance

As I compare our old door to the more modern one, I can’t believe the difference. I am thankful I had someone to help me find the right front door.
The associates that you speak with through the MVA service are knowledgeable and experienced in windows and doors. They can help you with everything and can answer any questions you may have about the different options available. Your associate will help you with measuring your doors, assist with custom door or window orders, answer regional and material questions (such as which material is best for your location) and help with ordering and order support. They also can help with information on energy efficiency, materials and regional requirements.
There were a lot of things I didn't know about ordering doors and my associate Jeff helped me with everything. As soon as I told him our house was close to the beach, he suggested I consider fiberglass for our doors and windows. We have had our beach house for nine years and always struggled with the damage caused by the salty air. Our previous doors were a wreck.
Once we decided on fiberglass, our associate Jeff helped us with product choices.
The Home Depot Millwork Virtual Apron (MVA) service offers a wide range of doors from various brands, including:
- Masonite Doors
- Jeld-Wen Doors
- Feather River Doors
The Home Depot Millwork Virtual Apron (MVA) service offers a wide range of windows from various brands, including:
- Andersen Windows
- Milgard windows
- Simonton Windows
- Jeld-Wen Windows
- American Craftsman Windows
This is not an exhaustive list and other brands may also be available through the MVA service. Your associate will be able to provide you with more information on the brands and types of windows available and help you make the best choice for your home.
#3 - Measuring Assistance
The mere thought of measuring our windows and doors made me nervous. Especially the part about the door swing—I could never remember if that refers to the inside or outside. Your MVA associate will be able to guide you through measuring your doors and ensure that you have the correct measurements.
One option for measuring is for the associate to talk you through the process over the phone, guiding you on how to measure your doors or windows accurately. They will provide instructions and ask you questions to make sure you have the correct measurements.
In some cases, the associate might also have the ability to send a professional measurement technician to your home to take the measurements for you. This service might not be available in all areas, and availability may vary depending on your location. If this option is available, the associate will let you know and schedule an appointment for a professional to come to your home and measure your doors.

Jeff found that there was a Home Depot measurement technician available in the Ventura area, and Steve came out to the beach house and measured our door and window needs. Steve’s knowledge about which doors and windows were available and standard-size options saved us a lot of money. Because we were doing an extensive remodel, we were mostly able to use standard sizes which are much more affordable.
#4 - Easy Ordering

The MVA service offers a convenient ordering process. Once you have selected the windows and doors you want to purchase, the associate will help you place your order and will provide support throughout the entire process.

We even added a Kwikset Prague Handle set which has a keypad entry that is so convenient for entry from the beach.
#5 - Custom Orders

If you have specific needs or requirements, the MVA service can help you place a custom order. This means you can get exactly what you need, even if it is not available in-store.
We had to fit our front door into an exact opening size, so Jeff helped us submit a custom door order. Per Jeff’s instructions, I finalized the order and looked forward to the delivery date.
#6 - Time Savings and Peace of Mind

By using the MVA service, you can save time compared to shopping in-store. The associates can provide you with all the information you need and help you place your order quickly and easily.
The MVA service provides a level of security and peace of mind that can be hard to find when shopping for windows and doors on your own. With the help of a knowledgeable associate, you can be confident that you are making the best decision for your home and your budget.
In a few instances, Jeff asked me to reach out to our contractor and verify certain items that needed clarification for our door. The questions were very specific and way over my head—I had no idea what they meant!
The Home Depot Millwork Virtual Apron (MVA) service is a great way to purchase windows and doors from the comfort of your own home. With a range of products, expert advice and support and a convenient ordering process, the MVA service makes it easy for customers to get the windows and doors they need for their home. So, if you are in the market for new windows and doors, consider using the MVA service and enjoy a stress-free personalized experience.
