Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting CFLs, lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, and plastic plant pots for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store saved on energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives such as solar and wind.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers. This commitment extends beyond our stores to our communities, as well as the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

Cushion your items with bubble cushion and moving blankets to ensure your belongings make it there safely. Don't forget to check out our moving truck rentals if you need those, too.
Should I get an inverter generator or a portable generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared for any circumstances life throws at you. Whether dealing with thunderstorms, blizzards or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy power after the elements knock it out. When searching generators for sale, don't forget that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. For safety purposes, always run your generators outdoors, away from windows and doors.
How can I prepare my home for spring temperature changes?
Ready your home for spring temperatures swings and storms by replacing any faulty parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in the crevices, you could have problems. On the outside of your home, examine metal roofing panels or shingles for rust or damage that could let water leak in. Gutters should be clear to prevent ice dams if you're prone to frozen precip as the seasons change. Check cinder blocks and brickwork for cracks, and verify indoor ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. Lastly, swap vinyl siding and chimney caps if they're in poor condition.
Do you have doorbell cameras?
Enjoy safety, peace of mind, and privacy with a wired or wireless doorbell camera. No more peeking through the peephole or an adjacent window when you can watch visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you talk to whoever is on your doorstep via your phone, which is useful for delivery people or to scare off potential porch pirates. Many cameras integrate with your smart home app or hub to give you flexible and easy accessibility. Choose to save video clips for future reference as needed and worry less with more control.
