Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting plastic plant pots, CFLs, lead acid batteries, and rechargeable batteries for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
We have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores since 2010.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to the environment and our communities. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

Why should I get a generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared for any circumstances life throws at you. Whether you're dealing with thunderstorms, snowstorms or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity when the elements knock it out. When exploring different generators for sale, remember that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. For safety purposes, always run your generators outdoors, away from doors and windows.
Should I do siding repairs now?
Make sure your home is ready for spring temperature swings by replacing any broken parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be in for a real headache. On the outside of your home, examine roofing shingles or metal roofing panels for damage or rust that could let water leak into your home. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams if you're prone to frozen precip as the seasons change. Check cinder blocks and bricks for cracks, and ensure indoor ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. Lastly, chimney caps and vinyl siding should be swapped out if they're damaged.
What benefits do doorbell cameras have?
Enjoy safety, privacy, and peace of mind with a wired or wireless doorbell camera. No more peeking through a peephole or window when you can watch visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you chat remotely via your phone, which is useful for delivery people or to scare off potential porch pirates. Several cameras integrate with your smart home app or hub to give you easy accessibility. Save video clips for future reference as needed and worry less with more control.
