Tools & Truck Rentals at The Home Depot Near You

The Home Depot Rental Center at Alamo Heights

When you're beginning to dive into a major DIY project, you might not have all the required tools in your shed or garage. That's when you should stop by The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in Alamo Heights.

Tool Rental
Our tool rental options expand your toolbelt with the precise tools you require to complete your project. It's not necessary to get a specialty tool when you're only using it once in a while. When you're thinking about getting a new tool, give it a spin before you decide which to buy. Whatever your situation, we have the power tools you're looking for.

Rent Post Hole Diggers, Shop Vacuums, and Floor Sanders
Tackle major jobs with reliable power tool rentals. Take your scuffed hardwood to the next level with a floor sander rental and a wet/dry vacuum to get the floors smooth and ready for refinishing. Construct a new fence around your home more efficiently with a post hole digger rental, then utilize other concrete tools to securely set your fence posts.

Make Painting Easier with Rental Scaffolding and Paint Sprayers
Make the most of longer spring days and paint outdoors. Rent paint sprayers to get professional coverage fast and make surfaces look new again. Scaffolding rentals help you reach elevated surfaces when painting fences, houses, and sheds. We carry step ladders and extension ladders for medium or smaller jobs, so you won't have to wait when you're ready to work.

Truck Rental
Choose one of our trucks when you're in need of a pickup truck or cargo van. It's great for hauling an item that's too big for the car. With excellent availability and a price to match, our vehicles are ready for rental. We've also got box trucks and Penske moving trucks to help ease the stress of a big move. Availability varies by store, so check our FAQ or speak to an Orange Apron to make sure you choose the right rental truck for you.

Large Equipment Rentals
Complete expansive projects with the right professional equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job. From the scissor and boom lifts to give you a boost to the skid steers for hauling materials, we've got an expansive variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore and see what we've got in stock.

Although we're calling out popular tool, large equipment, and truck rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you've got a particular item in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.

Frequently Asked Questions about Rentals

How do I rent large equipment, trucks, or tools?

Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see which trucks or tools you can rent. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a tool, truck, or large equipment. You may also visit our truck rental or tool and equipment rental pages to see if what you need is in stock at your store. For more info on renting large equipment or tools, read our Tool Rental FAQs, which includes equipment terms and conditions.

Can I rent large equipment or tools by the hour?

You can rent a tool or large equipment for four hours or more. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small DIY projects may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and bigger jobs are no problem. You've got options to rent large equipment and tools by the week, day, or month, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call your Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.

When do I return the tools?

You can return the tools early if you complete your project faster than planned, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off any built-up dirt from the tool as well. If you need it longer, call your rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.

Can I rent a truck for a few hours?

Rent a truck or cargo van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on the length of your project. Remember to factor in the drive between the store and the job site, as you must bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the documentation before you select a vehicle.

Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?

Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Match the level of gas that was in the tank when you received the rental. If you don't, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.

Can I rent a truck or large equipment with only a driver's license?

No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be over the age of 21. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Select tools as well as large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.

Do I need to go get my rented large equipment?

Depending on your location, you can get large equipment delivered to your job site for an affordable rate — whether that's at your home or out in the field. You'll need to rent it for one day or longer and provide us with 24 hours notice so we can adequately prepare your rented large equipment. In places where delivery isn't available, speak to an associate for the ideal way to get your large equipment.

What are some ways to avoid penalties and extra fees on rented large equipment?

Think of your large equipment rentals as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and you obey traffic laws. Read the manual so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Make sure to return equipment by the deadline or extend the rental period to accommodate the extra time you require.
