Tool Rental
Begin your next DIY project with confidence and the best tools. Let The Home Depot Allen Park Tool Rental Center fill in the gaps in your toolbelt with the tools you don't have on hand. You can rent a tool and bring it back after you've completed the project. If it makes sense to have those rental tools around all the time, inquire about buying our retired rental tools. The retired rental tools are discounted compared to the new items in our aisles.

How do I rent trucks and tools?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see what tools and trucks are up for rent. If you'd like to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a tool or truck. You could also read our truck rental or tool and equipment rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your store. For more information on renting tools, read our Tool Rental FAQs, which includes equipment terms and conditions.
Can I rent tools by the hour?
Tool rentals start at four hour time slots. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small home improvement jobs may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the week, month, or day, too. If you need it longer than what you signed up for, call your Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I bring the tools back?
You're welcome to return the tools early if you complete your project faster than planned, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need it longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I rent a truck for a few hours?
Rent a cargo van, box truck, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on how long your project is. Don't forget to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you'll need to return it to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the contract and terms and conditions before choosing your vehicle.
Should I refill the rental truck with gas before I bring it back?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Match the amount of gas that was in the tank when you received the rental. If you don't, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements.
