When it's time to dive into a big home improvement job, you might not have the specialty tools you need in a garage or workshop. Don't let that stop you when you can stop by The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in Bartlett/Stage Rd.
Tool Rental
Our tool and equipment rental choices expand your toolbelt with the precise tools you need to complete your DIY project. It's impractical to get a specialized tool when you're not using it often. When you're thinking about getting a new tool, do a trial run first before you decide which to purchase. Whatever your situation, we have the tools you're looking for.
Rent Floor Sanders, Shop Vacuums, Post Hole Diggers, and More
Tackle major projects with reliable power tool rentals. Use a rental tiller to get your garden bed ready for planting or ensure fresh sod lays just right with a sod cutter rental. Construct a new fence around your home faster with a post hole digger rental, then use other concrete tools that suit your project.
Make Painting Easier with Paint Sprayers and Rental Scaffolding
Gorgeous sunny days are a great time to tackle outdoor painting projects. Renew surfaces with a fresh coat of paint. Whether you need scaffolding rentals for painting a shed, or rental ladders for painting fences, or a paint sprayer rental for professional coverage, we have what you need.
Cargo Van and Truck Rentals
For large equipment rentals, we keep trucks of all kinds rental ready. Although availability varies by store, we've got a selection ranging from cargo vans to pickups to flatbeds. Choose the correct size for your DIY project so you can keep your job on track. As your trusted source for packing, DIY, and storage, it's smart to make us your source for truck rental as well.
Box Truck and Penske Moving Truck Rentals
If it's time to relocate to a new home, let us help with that, too. Explore our rental box trucks. We also offer Penske moving trucks in sizes ranging from 12-feet to 26-feet, but as always, availability varies from one store to the next. Use our trucks to haul all your belongings — from everything in a dorm or small apartment to a 5-bedroom house. Penske moving trucks have different sizes and rental requirements than our box trucks, so check out the FAQ or speak to an Orange Apron to ensure you choose the right rental truck for you.
Large Equipment Rentals
Complete expansive projects with professional equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need. From the scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini skid steers and excavators for hauling materials, we've got a surprising variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore our selection to see what we've got in stock.
Although we're calling out popular large equipment, truck, and tool rentals, our rental center may not have everything on hand for your required time frame. If you've got a particular tool in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent a truck, tool, or piece of large equipment?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what trucks or tools you can rent. If you want confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a tool, truck, or large equipment. You can also visit our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your store. For more information on renting large equipment or tools, read our Tool Rental FAQs, which includes equipment terms and conditions.
Can I rent tools or large equipment by the hour?
You can rent a tool or large equipment for four hours or more. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small home improvement projects may only require a short rental period, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the week, month, or day, too. If you need it longer than what you signed up for, call the Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I return the tools?
You're welcome to return the tools early if you finish your project faster than planned, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need it longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I rent a truck for a few hours?
Rent a cargo van, box truck, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes may be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on how long your project is. Don't forget to factor in the drive between the store and the job site, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the documentation before you decide on a truck.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Match the amount of gas that was in the tank when you got the rental. If you don't, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck or large equipment?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be over the age of 21. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Select tools as well as large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.
Do I need to go get my rented large equipment from the store?
Depending on your location, you may be able to get large equipment delivered straight to your job site for an affordable rate — at your home or out in the field. We'll need at least 24 hours notice so we can prepare your rental delivery for you and you'll need to rent it for a full day. Speak to an associate for the ideal way to get your large equipment.
How do I avoid penalties and extra fees on my large equipment rentals?
Think of your large equipment rentals as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and you obey traffic laws. Read the operator's manual so you're using it correctly to avoid injuring yourself or damaging the equipment. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get dinged with a late fee.
