Tool Rental
Begin your next DIY project with confidence and the best tools. Let The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in Bellevue, WA expand your toolbelt with the tools you don't have at home. You can rent what you need and return it when you're finished. If those rental tools just went from wanted to needed, ask about purchasing used tools. The retired rental tools are discounted compared to the new items in our aisles.
Tame the Lawn and Bushes Early
Greet the spring with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten around the garden and bushes with rental lawn mowers and string trimmers, and get that driveway and sidewalk clean again with a pressure washer rental. Your outdoor oasis will be refreshed and ready for new spring flowers in no time.
Add Insulation When the Weather is Cooler
For a more energy-efficient home, update your insulation in the spring — before it gets dangerously hot in your attic. Rent equipment made for insulation to install it correctly. Choose from a fiberglass blower or a cellulose insulation blower, and insulate those nooks and crannies with ease. It'll keep the house cooler this spring and summer, then continue working year-round. You'll enjoy warmer temperatures in the winter, too, which can lessen electricity usage.
Cargo Van and Truck Rentals
For your transport needs, we keep trucks of all kinds rental ready. Although availability varies by store, we've got a selection ranging from cargo vans to pickups to flatbed trucks. We'll have the correct size for your project so you can keep your job on track. As your trusted source for storage, packing, and DIY projects, it's simple to make us your source for truck rental as well.
Box Truck and Penske Moving Truck Rentals
If it's time to move to a new home, we can help with that. Explore our rental box trucks. We also offer Penske moving trucks ranging from 12-foot to 26-foot lengths, but as always, availability varies from store to store. Box trucks have different sizes and rental requirements than Penske moving trucks, so check the FAQ or speak to an Orange Apron to make sure you choose the right rental truck for you.

How do I rent trucks, tools, or large equipment?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what's available. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a truck, tool, or large equipment. You might also read our truck rental or tool and equipment rental pages to see if what you need is carried at your store. For more details on renting large equipment or tools, read our Tool Rental FAQs, including terms and conditions for the equipment.
Can I rent a tool or large equipment for a day?
Tool rentals and large equipment rentals start at four hour time slots. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small DIY jobs may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the week, day, or month, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call the Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I return the tools?
It's fine to return the tools early if you finish your project sooner than predicted, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off mud and grime from the tool as well. If you need it longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I rent a truck for a few hours?
Rent a box truck, cargo van, or pickup truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Remember to factor in the drive between the store and the job site, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the contract and terms and conditions before selecting a truck.
Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you return it. Note the fuel level when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that level. If you don't, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent large equipment or a truck?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements. Large equipment or select tools also require ID verification via CLEAR.
How do I receive my large equipment rental?
Depending on your location, you may be able to get large equipment delivered to your job site for a reasonable cost — whether that's at your home or out in the field. You'll need to rent it for one day or longer and provide us with 24 hours notice so we can prepare your rental delivery for you. In places where delivery isn't available, speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.
What are some ways to avoid penalties and extra fees on rented large equipment?
Treat your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and you obey traffic laws. Read the instructions so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Make sure to return equipment by the deadline or extend the rental period to accommodate the extra time you require.
