Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, CFLs, and lead acid batteries for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
We have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores since 2010.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to the environment, as well as our communities. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

Is it good to have a generator at home?
Having a generator means you're prepared for whatever circumstances Mother Nature throws at you. Whether you're dealing with severe thunderstorms, snowstorms tornados, hurricanes, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy power when the elements knock it out. When browsing generators for sale, remember that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. Always run your generators outdoors, away from windows and doors, for safety purposes.
Why should I repair my roof before spring severe weather arrives?
Ready your home for spring temperature swings by replacing or repairing faulty parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in any crevices, you could be in for a real headache. Check brickwork and cinder blocks for cracks, and verify indoor ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. On the outside of your home, examine shingles or metal roofs for damage or rust that could let water leak into your home. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams if you're prone to frozen precip as the seasons change. Lastly, swap out chimney caps and vinyl siding if damaged.
Why should I get a doorbell camera?
Enjoy peace of mind, safety, and privacy with a wireless or wired doorbell camera. No more peeking through a window or peephole when you can see human or animal visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you chat remotely via your phone, which is useful to scare off wannabe porch pirates or talk to delivery people. Several cameras integrate with your smart home app or hub to give you easy and flexible accessibility. Choose to save video clips for future reference as needed and worry less with more control.
