Take on any home improvement project with the right tools for the job — even if you don't have them on hand. Rent tools, use them, and take them back when you're done. Complete your project without taking up your workshop or basement with tools you only need every so often.
Tool Rental
Using The Home Depot Brickyard Tool Rental Center can expand the scope of your DIY projects. No more old hand-me-down tools that limit what you can do. Complete your project confidently and safely by renting quality tools. If your local store doesn't have the tool in stock, you could find it at another store within driving distance.
Make Painting Easier with Ladder and Paint Sprayer Rentals
Make the most of warmer weather to paint outdoors. Rent paint sprayers to get professional coverage and work much faster than you would with a brush or roller and a paint tray. Ladder rentals help you reach elevated areas when painting fences, houses, and sheds. We carry extension ladders and step ladders for medium or smaller jobs, so you won't have to wait when inspiration strikes.
Tame the Lawn and Bushes Early
Greet the spring with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten the yard with a rental lawn mower and leaf blower rental, the trees and hedges with a chainsaw rental, and the driveway and sidewalks with a rental pressure washer. Your outdoor oasis will be looking fresh and ready for new spring flowers before you know it.
Rental Trucks
For transporting large tool rentals or anything else, we keep box trucks and cargo vans rental-ready — with availability varying by store. Choose the right size truck rental for your project so you can keep your job on track. As your source for DIY jobs, it's simple to make us your go-to source for transport and moving as well.

How do I rent tools or trucks?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what trucks or tools you can rent. If you want to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a truck or tool. You might also check out our truck rental or tool and equipment rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your store. For more on renting tools, read our Tool Rental FAQs, which includes terms and conditions for the equipment.
Can I rent tools by the hour?
Tool rentals start at four hour time slots. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small home improvement jobs may only require a short rental period, and long-term projects aren't a problem either. You've got options to rent tools by the month, day, or week, too. If you need it longer than what you signed up for, call the Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When can I bring the tools back?
You're welcome to return the tools early if you finish your project sooner than predicted, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need it longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I rent a truck for a few hours?
Rent a truck or cargo van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Remember to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you must bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the contract before choosing a vehicle.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Match the level of gas that was in the tank when you got the rental. When you don't refill the vehicle, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be over the age of 21. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements.
