The Home Depot Rental Center at Carrollwood

Take on any DIY project with the right tools for the job — even if you don't have them on hand. Rent tools, use them, and take them back when you're done. Finish your project without taking up valuable garage or shed storage with tools you rarely need.

Tool Rental
Using The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in Carrollwood helps you handle bigger DIY projects. Break free of the limits of old tools and rent up-to-date tools made to suit your projects. Complete your project safely and confidently by renting quality tools. If your local store doesn't have the needed tool in stock, try checking another one within driving distance.

Make Painting Easier with Rental Scaffolding and Paint Sprayers
Beautiful spring days are a great time to tackle outdoor painting projects. Make surfaces look new again with a fresh coat of paint. Whether you need a paint sprayer rental for professional coverage, scaffolding rentals for painting sheds or houses, or rental ladders for painting fences, we have what you need.

Tame the Lawn and Bushes Early
Lighten the load with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten around the garden and shrubs with edgers and rental lawn mowers, and get that driveway and sidewalk clean again with a pressure washer rental. Your outdoor oasis will be ready for new spring flowers in no time.

Rental Trucks
To move large tool rentals or anything else, we keep flatbed trucks and cargo vans on hand — with availability varying by store. We also offer Penske moving trucks ranging from 12-foot to 26-foot lengths at certain stores. We'll have the right size truck rental for your DIY project so you can keep your job on track. As your source for DIY projects, packing, and storage needs, it's simple to make us your source for transport and moving as well.

Large Equipment Rentals
Handle massive projects with the right pro equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need. From the scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators for hauling materials, we've got an expansive variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore and see what we've got in stock.

Although we're mentioning specific tool, large equipment, and truck rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you've got a particular item in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.

Frequently Asked Questions about Rentals

How do I rent large equipment, tools, or trucks?

Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see which trucks or tools you can rent. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a tool, truck, or large equipment. You can also visit our truck rental or tool and equipment rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your store. For more on renting large equipment or tools, read our Tool Rental FAQs, including terms and conditions for the equipment.

Can I rent large equipment or a tool for an hour?

Large equipment rentals and tool rentals start at four hour time slots. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small home improvement jobs may only require a rental for a few hours, and long-term jobs can also be accommodated. You've got options to rent large equipment and tools by the week, month, or day, too. If you need it longer than anticipated, call your Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.

When do I return the tools?

It's fine to return the tools early if you finish your project ahead of schedule, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off mud and grime from the tool as well. If you need the tools longer, call your local rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.

Can I rent a truck for a week?

Rent a truck or cargo van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Be sure to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the contract before selecting a vehicle.

Do I need to refuel the rental truck when I'm done?

Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Match the amount of gas that was in the tank when you received the rental. When you don't refill the rental truck, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.

Can I rent large equipment or a truck with only a driver's license?

No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Select tools as well as large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.

How do I get my large equipment rental?

Depending on your location, you may be able to get large equipment delivered straight to your job site for a reasonable cost — out in the field or at your own home. We'll need at least 24 hours notice so we can adequately prepare your rented equipment and you'll need to rent it for a full day. In places where delivery isn't available, speak to an associate for the ideal way to get your large equipment.

How do I avoid extra fees and penalties on rented large equipment?

Think of your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure you obey traffic laws and it's parked legally. Read the instructions so you're using it correctly to avoid injuring yourself or damaging the equipment. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get hit with a late fee.
