Tool and Equipment Rental
Start your next home improvement project with confidence and the best tools for the job. Let The Home Depot Cedar Hill Tool Rental Center fill in the gaps in your toolbelt with the tools you don't have at home. Rent the tools you need and return them when you've completed the project. If it turns out the rental tools would be more useful than you thought, inquire about buying our retired rental tools. Compared to the new items on our store shelves, they're discounted.
Tame the Greenery and Lawn Early
Greet the spring with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten the lawn and shrubs with hedge trimmers and rental lawn mowers, and get that sidewalk clean again with a pressure washer rental. Your outdoor oasis will be ready for new spring flowers in no time.
A Comfortable Workspace is a Productive One
Get ready to beat the heat before it hits. Plan to keep your workspace comfortable and cool so you can get more done. We carry generators to run rental air conditioners, fans, and all your large power tools.
Cargo Van and Truck Rentals
To meet your transport needs, we keep trucks of all kinds on hand. Although availability varies by store, we've got a selection ranging from flatbeds to pickups to cargo vans. We'll have the right size for your DIY project so you can keep your job on track. As your trusted source for DIY and storage projects, it's smart to make us your source for truck rental as well.
Box Truck and Penske Moving Truck Rentals
If it's time to move to a new home, let us help with that. Explore our rental box trucks. We also offer Penske moving trucks in sizes ranging from 12-feet to 26-feet, but as always, availability varies from one store to the next. Penske moving trucks have different rental requirements and sizes than our box trucks, so check our FAQ or speak to an Orange Apron to make sure you choose the right rental truck for you.
Large Equipment Rentals
Complete massive projects with professional equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job yourself. From the boom lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators and mini skid steers capable of hauling materials on outdoor job sites, we've got a surprising variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore and see what we've got in stock.
Although we're mentioning popular large equipment, truck, and tool rentals, our rental center may not have everything on hand for your required time frame. If you've got a particular piece of equipment in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent a truck, tool, or piece of large equipment?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what tools and trucks are up for rent. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a tool, truck, or large equipment. You can also visit our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is available at your favorite store. For more info on renting large equipment or tools, read these Tool Rental FAQs, which includes terms and conditions for the equipment.
How long can I rent tools or large equipment?
You can rent a tool or large equipment for four hours or more. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small home improvement jobs may only require a rental for a few hours, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent large equipment and tools by the week, month, or day, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call the Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I return the tools?
You're welcome to return the tools early if you finish your project sooner than predicted, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need the tools longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
How long can I rent a truck?
Rent a cargo van, box truck, or pickup truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Remember to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you'll need to return it to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the terms and conditions before choosing a truck.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you return it. Match the amount of gas that was in the tank when you received the rental. When you don't refill the truck, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck or large equipment with only a driver's license?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be 21 or older. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements. Large equipment or select tools also require ID verification via CLEAR.
Do I need to pick up my large equipment rental from the store?
Depending on your location, you can get large equipment delivered straight to your job site for a reasonable cost — at your home or out in the field. We'll need at least 24 hours notice so we can prepare your rental delivery for you and you'll need to rent it for a full day. Speak to an associate for the ideal way to get your large equipment.
How do I avoid penalties and extra fees on my large equipment rentals?
Think of your large equipment rentals as any other vehicle: Make sure you obey traffic laws and it's parked legally. Read the manual so you're using it correctly to avoid injuring yourself or damaging the equipment. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are. If you cancel within 12 hours of your scheduled delivery, you'll pay a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get dinged with a late fee.
