Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, and CFLs for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
Since 2010, we have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to our communities and the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Learn more about our eco actions.

Why should I get a generator?
We've got the variety you need when searching for a generator for sale. Inverter generators are cleaner and quieter than traditional portable generators. They adjust to whatever power load is requested. This means they'll make less noise in times of lesser demand. When considering different generators for sale, don't forget that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. For safety purposes, always run your generators outside, away from windows and doors.
Should I do siding repairs now?
Make sure your home is ready for spring temperatures swings and storms by replacing any faulty or broken parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be headed for trouble. On the outside of your home, examine shingles or metal roofs for damage or rust that could let water leak into your home. Gutters should be cleaned to prevent ice dams if you're prone to frozen precip as the seasons change. Check brickwork and cinder block for cracks, and verify indoor ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. Lastly, change out chimney caps and vinyl siding if damaged.
Why should I get a doorbell camera?
Enjoy safety, peace of mind, and privacy with a wired or wireless doorbell camera. No more peeking through the peephole or an adjacent window when you can see visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you talk to whoever is on your doorstep via your phone, which is useful to scare off would-be porch pirates or talk to delivery people. Most cameras integrate with your smart home app or hub to give you easy accessibility. Save video clips for future reference as needed and worry less with more control.
