Take on any DIY project with the right tools — even if you don't have them on hand. Rent tools, use them, and bring them back when you're done. You're free to complete your project without cluttering up valuable garage or shed storage with tools you rarely use.
Tool and Equipment Rental
Using The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in Cherry Hill helps you handle larger DIY projects. Break free of the limits of old tools and rent up-to-date tools made to suit your projects. Complete your project confidently and safely by renting quality tools. If your local store doesn't have the tool you need in stock, it might be at another one within driving distance.
Add Insulation When the Weather is Cooler
For a more energy-efficient home, update your insulation in the spring, if possible — before it gets dangerously hot in the attic. Rent specialized equipment for insulation to install it correctly. Choose from a fiberglass blower or a cellulose insulation blower, and insulate those nooks and crannies well. It'll keep the house cooler this spring and summer, then continue working year-round. You'll enjoy warmer temps in the winter, too, which can lessen heater usage.
Tame the Bushes and Lawn Early
Lighten the load with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten the lawn and shrubs with rental lawn mowers and trimmers, and get that sidewalk clean again with a pressure washer rental. Your outdoor oasis will be refreshed and ready for new spring flowers in no time.
Rental Trucks
To move large tool rentals or anything else, we keep flatbed trucks and cargo vans on hand — with availability varying by store. We also offer Penske moving trucks in sizes ranging from 12-feet to 26-feet at certain stores. Choose the correct size truck rental for your project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your source for DIY jobs, it's simple to make us your go-to source for moving and transport as well.
Large Equipment Rentals
Handle expansive projects with the right professional power equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job yourself. From the scissor and boom lifts to give you a boost to the mini skid steers and mini excavators capable of hauling materials on outdoor job sites, we've got a surprising variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore our selection to see what we've got in stock.
Although we're mentioning specific tool, truck, and large equipment rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you've got a particular piece of equipment in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent trucks, tools, or large equipment?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what tools or trucks you can rent. If you want to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a truck, tool, or large equipment. You may also check out our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is carried at your store. For more on renting tools or large equipment, read our Tool Rental FAQs, including equipment terms and conditions.
Can I rent large equipment or a tool for a week?
You can rent large equipment or tools for four hours or more. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small DIY projects may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and long-term jobs can also be accommodated. You've got options to rent large equipment and tools by the day, week, or month, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call the Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I bring the tools back?
You can return the tools early if you finish your project sooner than predicted, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need it longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
How long can I rent a truck?
Rent a truck or cargo van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on how long your project is. Don't forget to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you must bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the documentation before choosing your vehicle.
Do I need to refuel the rental truck when I'm done?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you bring it back. Match the level of gas that was in the tank when you received the rental. When you don't refill the rental vehicle, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent large equipment or a truck?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be over the age of 21. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements. Large equipment or select tools also require ID verification via CLEAR.
How do I receive my large equipment rental?
Depending on your location, you can get large equipment dropped off and picked up from your job site for an affordable rate — whether that's out in the field or at your own home. We'll need at least 24 hours notice so we can adequately prepare your rented equipment and you'll need to rent it for a full day. In places where delivery isn't available, speak to an associate for the ideal way to get your large equipment.
How do I avoid extra fees and penalties on my large equipment rentals?
Treat your large equipment rentals as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and you obey traffic laws. Read the instructions so you're using it correctly to avoid injuring yourself or damaging the equipment. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are. If you cancel within 12 hours of your scheduled delivery, you'll pay a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get hit with a late fee.
