When you're preparing to leap into a major DIY job, you might not have everything you need in the shed or garage. Don't let that stop you when you can stop by The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in Chula Vista.
Tool Rental
Our tool rental options enlarge your toolbelt with the precise tools you need to complete your project. It's impractical to buy a specialized tool when you're not using it often. When you're considering a new tool, do a trial run before you select which to purchase. Whatever your situation, we have just what you're looking for.
Tame the Greenery and Lawn Early
Greet the spring with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten around the garden and shrubs with string trimmers and rental lawn mowers, and get that driveway clean again with a pressure washer rental. Your outdoor oasis will be looking fresh and ready for new spring flowers in no time.
Make Painting Easier with Rental Scaffolding and Paint Sprayers
Make the most of warmer weather to paint outdoors. Rent paint sprayers to get optimal coverage and work much faster than you would with a brush or roller and a paint tray. Rent ladders and scaffolding to reach elevated surfaces when painting fences, houses, and sheds. We carry step ladders and extension ladders for small to medium jobs, so you won't have to wait when you're ready to work.
Rental Trucks

How do I rent tools and trucks?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what's available. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a truck or tool. You might also read our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is at your local store. For more information on renting tools, read our Tool Rental FAQs, which includes equipment terms and conditions.
How long can I rent tools?
You can rent a tool for four hours or more. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small home improvement jobs may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the week, day, or month, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call the Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I bring the tools back?
It's fine to return the tools early if you complete your project faster than planned, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off mud and grime from the tool as well. If you need it longer, call your local rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I rent a truck for a week?
Rent a box truck, cargo van, or pickup truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Don't forget to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you must return it to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the provided documentation before you choose a truck.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you return it. Note the original fuel level when you receive the truck, and fill it with enough gas to match that level. When you don't refill the rental truck, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck with only a driver's license?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be over the age of 21. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck.
