Take on any DIY project with the right tools — even if you don't have them on hand. Rent tools, use them, and take them back when you're done. Finish your project without cluttering up valuable shed or garage storage with tools you rarely use.

Using The Home Depot Deerwood Tool Rental Center helps you handle bigger DIY projects. You won't be limited by only what you have on hand or have to settle for untrustworthy hand-me-down tools. Complete your project confidently and safely by renting quality tools. If your local store doesn't have the tool you need in stock, it might be at another store within driving distance.

Make Painting Easier with Ladder and Paint Sprayer Rentals
Beautiful sunny days are a great time to tackle outdoor painting projects. Make surfaces look new again with a fresh coat of paint. Whether you need a paint sprayer rental for professional coverage, scaffolding rentals for painting houses or sheds, or rental ladders for painting fences, we have what you need.

Tame the Greenery and Lawn Early

Although we're calling out popular large equipment, truck, and tool rentals, our rental center may not have everything on hand for your required time frame. If you've got a particular truck in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.

Frequently Asked Questions about Rentals

How do I rent trucks, tools, or large equipment?

Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what trucks or tools you can rent. If you want confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a truck, tool, or large equipment. You might also read our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is available at your store. For more details on renting large equipment or tools, read our Tool Rental FAQs, including equipment terms and conditions.

Can I rent large equipment or a tool for an hour?

You can rent a tool or large equipment for four hours or more. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small home improvement jobs may only require a rental for a few hours, and major projects can also be accommodated. You've got options to rent large equipment and tools by the week, day, or month, too. If you need it longer than what you signed up for, call the Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.

When do I return the tools?

It's fine to return the tools early if you finish your project sooner than predicted, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off mud and grime from the tool as well. If you need them longer, call the rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.

How long can I rent a truck?

Rent a cargo van, box truck, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes may be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on the length of your project. Be sure to factor in the drive between the store and the job site, as you must return it to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the contract before you choose a truck.

Do I need to refuel the rental truck when I'm done?

Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Make a note of the fuel level when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that same level. When you don't refill the vehicle, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.

Can I rent a truck or large equipment with only a driver's license?

No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements. Large equipment or select tools also require ID verification via CLEAR.

How do I receive my large equipment rental?

Depending on your location, you may be able to get large equipment delivered straight to your job site for a reasonable cost — at your home or out in the field. We'll need at least 24 hours notice so we can adequately prepare your rented equipment and you'll need to rent it for a full day. In places where delivery isn't available, speak to an associate for the ideal way to get your large equipment.

What are some ways to avoid penalties and extra fees on my large equipment rentals?

Think of your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and you obey traffic laws. Read the manual so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Make sure to return equipment by the deadline or extend the rental period to accommodate the extra time you require.
