Tool Rental
Our tool rental options enlarge your toolbelt and toolbox with the precise tools you require to complete your project. It's impractical to buy a specialized tool when you're only using it once in a while. When you're considering a new tool, try it out first before you choose which to get. Whatever your situation, we have the power tools you're looking for.

Construct a new fence around your property faster with a post hole digger rental, then utilize other concrete tools to securely set your fence posts.

How do I rent tools or trucks?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what tools and trucks are up for rent. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a truck or tool. You could also visit our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is carried at your store. For more info on renting tools, read the Tool Rental FAQs, including equipment terms and conditions.
Can I rent a tool for a day?
You can rent a tool for four hours or more. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small home improvement projects may only require a rental for a few hours, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the week, month, or day, too. If you need it longer than anticipated, call the Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When can I bring the tools back?
You're welcome to return the tools early if you finish your project ahead of schedule, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off any mud or dirt from the tool as well. If you need it longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I rent a truck for a week?
Rent a cargo van, box truck, or pickup truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on how long your project is. Don't forget to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the terms and conditions before you choose a truck.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Match the amount of gas that was in the tank when you received the rental. When you don't refill the truck, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck with only a driver's license?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be over the age of 21. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck.
