Take on any new home improvement project with the right tools — even if you don't have them on hand. Rent power tools, use them, and bring them back when you're done. You're free to complete your project without taking up shed or workshop storage with tools you rarely reach for.
Tool Rental
Using The Home Depot E Sandy Tool Rental Center helps you handle bigger DIY projects. No more old hand-me-down tools that limit what you can do. Rent the tools to finish your project safely. If your local store doesn't have a tool you need in stock, try checking another one within driving distance.
Make Painting Easier with Ladder and Paint Sprayer Rentals
Take advantage of warmer weather to paint outdoors. Rent paint sprayers to get optimal coverage fast and make surfaces look new again. Rent ladders and scaffolding to reach elevated surfaces when painting fences, houses, and sheds. We carry step ladders and extension ladders for small to medium jobs, so you won't have to wait when you're ready to get that job done.
Tame the Lawn and Bushes Early
Greet the spring with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten the yard with a rental lawn mower and leaf blower, the trees and hedges with a chainsaw, and the driveway and sidewalks with a pressure washer. Your outdoor oasis will be refreshed and ready for new spring flowers before you know it.
Cargo Van and Truck Rentals
To move large tool rentals or anything else, we keep trucks of all kinds on hand. Although availability varies by store, we've got a selection ranging from flatbed trucks to pickup trucks to cargo vans. You're sure to find the right size for your DIY project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your trusted source for DIY jobs of all sizes, it's smart to make us your source for truck rental as well.
Box Truck and Penske Moving Truck Rentals
If it's time to move to a new home, we can help with that, too. Explore our rental box trucks. We also offer Penske moving trucks in sizes ranging from 12-feet to 26-feet, but as always, availability varies from store to store. Use our trucks to haul all your belongings — from everything in a dorm or small apartment to a 5-bedroom house. Our Penske moving trucks have different rental requirements and sizes than our box trucks, so check the FAQ or speak to an Orange Apron to ensure you choose the right rental truck for you.
Large Equipment Rentals
Handle expansive projects with pro power equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need. From the scissor and boom lifts to give you a boost to the mini skid steers and excavators for hauling materials, we've got a surprising variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore and see what we've got in stock.
Although we're mentioning specific large equipment, tool, and truck rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you've got a particular item in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent large equipment, tools, or trucks?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see what tools or trucks you can rent. If you want to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a truck, tool, or large equipment. You could also check out our truck rental or tool and equipment rental pages to see if what you need is carried at your store. For more info on renting tools or large equipment, read these Tool Rental FAQs, which includes terms and conditions for the equipment.
Can I rent a tool or large equipment for an hour?
You can rent a tool or large equipment for four hours or more. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small DIY jobs may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the day, month, or week, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call your Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.
When can I bring the tools back?
You're welcome to return the tools early if you complete your project ahead of schedule, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off any grime and dust from the tool as well. If you need them longer, call the rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I rent a truck for a week?
Rent a box truck, cargo van, or pickup truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes may be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on how long your project is. Remember to factor in the drive between the job site and the store, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the documentation before selecting a truck.
Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Match the level of gas that was in the tank when you received the rental. When you don't refill the rental truck, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent large equipment or a truck?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements. Select tools as well as large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.
Do I need to go get my rented large equipment from the store?
Depending on your location, you can get large equipment dropped off at your job site for an affordable rate — whether that's out in the field or at your own home. We'll need at least 24 hours notice so we can prepare your rental delivery for you and you'll need to rent it for a full day. Speak to an associate for the ideal way to get your large equipment.
What are some ways to avoid penalties and extra fees on rented large equipment?
Treat your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure you obey traffic laws and it's parked legally. Read the operator's manual so you're using it correctly to avoid injuring yourself or damaging the equipment. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Make sure to return equipment by the deadline or extend the rental period to accommodate the extra time you require.
