When it's time to dive into a major DIY job, you might not have the specialty tools you need in the garage or shed. That's when you should stop by The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in Elk River.
Tool Rental
Our tool rental options enlarge your toolbelt and toolbox with the exact tools you need to complete the job. It's not necessary to invest in a specific tool when you're only using it once in a while. When you're considering a new tool, give it a spin first before you decide which one to buy. Whatever your situation, we have the power tools you're looking for.
Rent Floor Sanders, Shop Vacs, Post Hole Diggers, and More
Tackle serious projects with serious power tool rentals. Take your scuffed wooden floor to the next level with a floor sander rental and a wet/dry vacuum to get the floors smooth and ready for refinishing. Construct a new fence around your property faster with a post hole digger rental, then utilize other concrete tools to securely set your fence posts.
Make Painting Easier with Rental Scaffolding and Ladders
Take advantage of longer spring days and paint outdoors. Rent paint sprayers to get professional coverage fast and make surfaces look new again. Ladder rentals help you reach high surfaces when painting fences, houses, and sheds. We carry extension ladders and step ladders for medium or smaller jobs, so you won't have to wait when inspiration strikes.
Rental Trucks
For your transport needs, we keep cargo vans and flatbed trucks on hand — with availability varying by store. Choose the correct size truck rental for your DIY project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your source for storage, packing, and DIY, it's simple to make us your go-to source for transport and moving as well.

How do I rent trucks and tools?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see what tools or trucks you can rent. If you want confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a truck or tool. You might also check out our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is carried at your store. For more details on renting tools, read these Tool Rental FAQs, which includes equipment terms and conditions.
Can I rent a tool for a month?
You can rent a tool for four hours or more. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small DIY jobs may only require a rental for a few hours, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the week, month, or day, too. If you need it longer than what you signed up for, call the Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I return the tools?
You can return the tools early if you complete your project sooner than predicted, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off mud and grime from the tool as well. If you need it longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I rent a truck for a few hours?
Rent a cargo van, box truck, or pickup truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on how long your project is. Don't forget to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you must bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the contract and terms and conditions before selecting a truck.
Should I refill the rental truck with gas before I bring it back?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you return it. Note the fuel level when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that same level. If you don't, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be over the age of 21. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck.
