Take on any home improvement project with the right tools — even if you don't own them. Rent tools, use them, and take them back when you're done. You can finish your project without cluttering up garage or shed storage with tools you rarely need.
Tool and Equipment Rental
The Home Depot Fairview Heights Tool Rental Center lets you do more complex DIY projects. Break free of the limits of old tools and rent up-to-date tools made to suit your projects. Rent the tools to finish your project confidently and safely. If your local store doesn't have the tool in stock, it could be available at another store within driving distance.
Add Insulation When the Weather is Cooler
For a more energy-efficient home, add another layer to your insulation in the spring — before it gets dangerously hot in your attic. Rent specialized equipment for insulation to get it installed correctly. Decide between a fiberglass blower or a cellulose insulation blower, and get those nooks and crannies insulated with ease. It'll keep the house cooler this spring and summer, then continue working year-round. You'll enjoy warmer temps in the winter, too, which can lessen heater usage.
Tame the Lawn and Trees Early
Lighten the load with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten around the garden and bushes with trimmers and rental lawn mowers, and get that sidewalk clean again with a pressure washer rental. Your outdoor oasis will be looking fresh and ready for new spring flowers before you know it.
Cargo Van and Truck Rentals
For transporting large tool rentals or anything else, we keep trucks of all kinds ready to rent. Although availability varies by store, we've got a selection ranging from cargo vans to flatbed trucks to pickup trucks. Choose the right size for your project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your source for packing, DIY projects, and storage needs, it's simple to make us your source for truck rental as well.
Box Truck and Penske Moving Truck Rentals
If it's time to move to a new home, we can help with that, too. Explore our rental box trucks. We also offer Penske moving trucks in sizes ranging from 12-feet to 26-feet, but as always, availability varies from one store to the next. Box trucks have different rental requirements and sizes than Penske moving trucks, so check out our FAQ or speak to an associate to make sure you choose the right rental truck for you.
Large Equipment Rentals
Handle massive projects with professional power equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job yourself. From the boom lifts and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the skid steers capable of hauling materials on outdoor job sites, we've got an expansive variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore and see what we've got in stock.
Although we're calling out popular large equipment, truck, and tool rentals, our rental center may not have everything on hand for your required time frame. If you've got a particular truck in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent trucks, tools, or large equipment?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see which trucks or tools you can rent. If you want confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a tool, truck, or large equipment. You may also check out our truck rental or tool and equipment rental pages to see if what you need is at your favorite store. For more information on renting tools or large equipment, read these Tool Rental FAQs, which includes terms and conditions for the equipment.
How long can I rent tools or large equipment?
Tool rentals and large equipment rentals start at four hour time slots. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small home improvement projects may only require a short rental period, and long-term projects aren't a problem either. You've got options to rent tools by the month, day, or week, too. If you need it longer than what you signed up for, call the Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.
When can I bring the tools back?
You're welcome to return the tools early if you finish your project sooner than predicted, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off any mud or dirt from the tool as well. If you need them longer, call your rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.
How long can I rent a truck?
Rent a box truck, cargo van, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes may be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on how long your project is. Remember to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the contract before you choose a vehicle.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you return it. Make a note of the fuel level when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that same level. When you don't refill the vehicle, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent large equipment or a truck with only a driver's license?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Select tools as well as large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.
How do I receive my large equipment rental?
Depending on your location, you may be able to get large equipment delivered to your job site for a reasonable cost — out in the field or at your own home. We'll need at least 24 hours notice so we can adequately prepare your rented equipment and you'll need to rent it for a full day. Speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.
How do I avoid penalties and extra fees on rented large equipment?
Think of your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and you obey traffic laws. Read the instructions so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are. If you cancel within 12 hours of your scheduled delivery, you'll pay a cancellation fee. Make sure to return equipment by the deadline or extend the rental period to accommodate the extra time you require.
