Tool Rental
Jump into your next DIY project with confidence and the right tools for the job. Let The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in Fenton fill in the gaps in your toolbelt with the tools you don't have on hand. You can rent what you need and return it when you've completed the project. If it makes sense to have those rental tools around all the time, inquire about buying our retired rental tools. The retired rental tools are discounted compared to the new items in our aisles.
Tame the Lawn and Trees Early
Greet the spring with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten the lawn and bushes with rental lawn mowers and hedge trimmers, and get that sidewalk and driveway clean again with a pressure washer rental. Your outdoor oasis will be ready for new spring flowers before you know it.
Add Insulation When the Weather is Cooler
For a more energy-efficient home, update your insulation in the spring — before it gets dangerously hot in your attic. Rent equipment made for insulation to install it correctly. Decide between a cellulose insulation blower or a fiberglass blower, and get those nooks and crannies insulated properly. You'll enjoy a more consistent home temperature and steadier utility bills with new insulation.
Truck and Cargo Van Rentals
For transporting large tool rentals or anything else, we keep trucks of all kinds rental ready. Although availability varies by store, we've got a selection ranging from pickup trucks to cargo vans to flatbeds. Choose the correct size for your project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your trusted source for DIY projects, packing, and storage needs, it's easy to make us your go-to source for truck rental as well.
Box Truck and Penske Moving Truck Rentals
If it's time to move to a new home, we can help with that, too. Explore our rental box trucks. We also offer Penske moving trucks ranging from 12-foot to 26-foot lengths, but as always, availability varies by store. Use our trucks to haul all your belongings — from everything in a dorm or small apartment to a 5-bedroom house. Penske moving trucks have different rental requirements and sizes than our box trucks, so check our FAQ or speak to an associate to make sure you find the right rental truck for you.
Large Equipment Rentals
Handle expansive projects with professional power equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need. From the boom lifts and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini skid steers for hauling materials, we've got a surprising variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore our selection to see what we've got in stock.
Although we're calling out specific large equipment, truck, and tool rentals, our rental center may not have everything on hand for your required time frame. If you've got a particular truck in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent tools, trucks, or large equipment?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see which tools or trucks you can rent. If you want to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a tool, truck, or large equipment. You can also read our truck rental or tool and equipment rental pages to see if what you need is available at your store. For more details on renting large equipment or tools, read our Tool Rental FAQs, which includes equipment terms and conditions.
Can I rent large equipment or a tool by the hour?
You can rent large equipment or tools for four hours or more. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small home improvement projects may only require a short rental period, and long-term projects aren't a problem either. You've got options to rent tools by the week, month, or day, too. If you need it longer than what you signed up for, call the Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I return the tools?
You're welcome to return the tools early if you complete your project ahead of schedule, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off residual dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need it longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I rent a truck for a week?
Rent a cargo van, box truck, or pickup truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on how long your project is. Be sure to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you'll need to return it to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the provided documentation before you decide on a vehicle.
Do I need to refuel the rental truck when I'm done?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you return it. Match the amount of gas that was in the tank when you got the rental. When you don't refill the vehicle, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck or large equipment?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be over the age of 21. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Select tools as well as large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.
How do I receive my large equipment rental?
Depending on your location, you can get large equipment delivered to your job site for an affordable rate — at your home or out in the field. You'll need to rent it for one day or longer and provide us with 24 hours notice so we can prepare your rental delivery for you. Speak to an associate for the ideal way to get your large equipment.
How do I avoid extra fees and penalties on my large equipment rentals?
Treat your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure you obey traffic laws and it's parked legally. Read the operator's manual so you're using it correctly to avoid injuring yourself or damaging the equipment. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Make sure to return equipment by the deadline or extend the rental period to accommodate the extra time you require.
