Take on any home improvement project with the right tools for the job — even if you don't have them on hand. Rent tools, use them, and bring them back when you're done. Finish your project without taking up your shed or garage with tools you rarely need.
Tool and Equipment Rental
The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in Gaithersburg lets you do larger DIY projects. No more old hand-me-down tools that limit what you can do. Rent quality tools to complete your project safely and confidently. If your local store doesn't have the tool you need in stock, it might be available at another store within driving distance.
Make Painting Easier with Ladder and Paint Sprayer Rentals
Take advantage of longer spring days and paint outdoors. Rent paint sprayers to get optimal coverage fast and renew surfaces. Ladder rentals help you reach elevated places when painting fences, houses, and sheds. We carry extension ladders and step ladders for small to medium jobs, so you won't have to wait when you're feeling motivated to check that job off the to-do list.
Tame the Bushes and Lawn Early
Lighten the load with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten the lawn and bushes with rental lawn mowers and hedge trimmers, and get that driveway clean again with a pressure washer rental. Your outdoor oasis will be ready for new spring flowers in no time.
Rental Trucks
To make it easier to transport large tool rentals, we keep pickup trucks and Penske moving trucks rental-ready — with availability varying by store. We'll have the right size truck rental for your project so you can keep your job on track. As your trusted source for packing, DIY projects, and storage needs, it's easy to make us your source for moving and transport as well.

How do I rent tools or trucks?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what tools and trucks are up for rent. If you'd like to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a tool or truck. You might also read our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is at your store. For more info on renting tools, read the Tool Rental FAQs, which includes equipment terms and conditions.
Can I rent a tool for a month?
You can rent a tool for four hours or more. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small home improvement jobs may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and long-term jobs are no problem. You've got options to rent tools by the week, day, or month, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call the Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I bring the tools back?
You're welcome to return the tools early if you finish your project faster than planned, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off mud and grime from the tool as well. If you need them longer, call your rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I rent a truck for a week?
Rent a cargo van, box truck, or pickup truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes may be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Remember to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you must return it to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the contract before selecting a vehicle.
Do I need to refuel the rental truck when I'm done?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Note the original fuel level when you receive the truck, and fill it with enough gas to match that same level. When you don't refill the vehicle, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck with only a driver's license?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be over the age of 21. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck.
