Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, and CFLs for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store saved on energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives such as wind and solar.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to the environment, as well as our communities. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Learn more about our eco actions.

Should I get a portable generator or an inverter generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared for any circumstances Mother Nature throws at you. Whether you're dealing with blizzards, severe thunderstorms, hurricanes, tornados, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity after the elements take it out. When browsing generators for sale, remember that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. Always run your generators outdoors, away from doors and windows, for safety purposes.
Why should I repair my roof before spring severe weather arrives?
Make sure your home is ready for spring temperature swings by repairing or replacing faulty parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be in for major repairs later. Check cinder blocks and brick for cracks, and ensure indoor ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. On the outside of your home, examine metal roofing panels or shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Gutters should be cleaned to prevent ice dams if you're still prone to ice storms and snow. Lastly, replace vinyl siding and chimney caps if damaged.
Do you have doorbell cameras?
Enjoy privacy, peace of mind, and safety with a wired or wireless doorbell camera. No more peeking through a peephole or window when you can watch visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you chat remotely via your phone, which is useful to scare off would-be porch pirates or talk to delivery people. Several cameras integrate with your smart home app or hub to give you easy accessibility. Save video clips for future reference as needed and worry less with more control.
