The Home Depot Rental Center at Homewood

When you're preparing to dive into a big home improvement job, you might not have the specialty tools you need in your shed. That's when you should stop by The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in Homewood.

Tool Rental
Our tool and equipment rental options expand your toolbelt and toolbox with the precise tools you require to complete the job. It's not necessary to buy a specific tool when you're only using it once in a while. When you're thinking about getting a new tool, give it a spin before you decide which to buy. Whatever your situation, we have the power tools you're looking for.

Tame the Greenery and Lawn Early
Lighten the load with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten the yard with a rental lawn mower and leaf blower, the trees and hedges with a chainsaw, and the driveway and sidewalks with a rental pressure washer. Your outdoor oasis will be looking fresh and ready for new spring flowers before you know it.

Make Painting Easier with Ladder and Paint Sprayer Rentals
Take advantage of longer spring days and paint outdoors. Rent paint sprayers to get professional coverage fast and make surfaces look new again. Scaffolding rentals help you reach high places when painting fences, houses, and sheds. We carry step ladders and extension ladders for medium or smaller jobs, so you won't have to wait when you're ready to work.

Truck Rental
To meet your transport needs, we keep cargo vans and flatbed trucks ready to rent — with availability varying by store. We also offer Penske moving trucks ranging from 12-foot to 26-foot lengths at certain stores. We'll have the right size truck rental for your project so you can keep your job on track. As your trusted source for DIY jobs of all sizes, it's smart to make us your go-to source for moving and transport as well.

Large Equipment Rentals
Handle massive projects with the right professional equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job yourself. From the boom and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini skid steers and mini excavators for hauling materials, we've got an expansive variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore and see what we've got in stock.

Although we're calling out popular tool, large equipment, and truck rentals, our rental center may not have everything on hand for your required time frame. If you've got a particular item in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.

Frequently Asked Questions about Rentals

How do I rent large equipment, tools, or trucks?

Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what tools and trucks are up for rent. If you want confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a tool, truck, or large equipment. You might also read our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is carried at your store. For more information on renting large equipment or tools, read these Tool Rental FAQs, which includes terms and conditions for the equipment.

Can I rent a tool or large equipment for an hour?

You can rent a tool or large equipment for four hours or more. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small DIY projects may only require a short rental period, and long-term jobs are no problem. You've got options to rent large equipment and tools by the month, day, or week, too. If you need it longer than what you signed up for, call your Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.

When do I bring the tools back?

It's fine to return the tools early if you finish your project ahead of schedule, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need them longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.

How long can I rent a truck?

Rent a truck or cargo van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on the length of your project. Remember to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you must return it to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the terms and conditions before you decide on a truck.

Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?

Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Note the amount of gas in the tank when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that same level. If you don't, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.

Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck or large equipment?

No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be over the age of 21. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Large equipment or select tools also require ID verification via CLEAR.

How do I get my large equipment rental?

Depending on your location, you may be able to get large equipment dropped off at your job site for a reasonable cost — whether that's out in the field or at your own home. You'll need to rent it for one day or longer and provide us with 24 hours notice so we can adequately prepare your rented large equipment. Speak to an associate for the ideal way to get your large equipment.

What are some ways to avoid extra fees and penalties on rented large equipment?

Treat your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and you obey traffic laws. Read the manual so you're using it correctly to avoid injuring yourself or damaging the equipment. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are. If you cancel within 12 hours of your scheduled delivery, you'll pay a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get dinged with a late fee.
