The Home Depot Rental Center at Independence

When it's time to leap into a big home improvement job, you might not have the specialty tools you need in a shed or garage. That's when you should stop by The Home Depot Independence Tool Rental Center.

Tool Rental
Our tool rental choices enlarge your toolbelt and toolbox with the precise tools you require to complete the job. It's not necessary to invest in a specialized tool when you're rarely reaching for it. When you're looking for a new tool, try it out first before you choose which one to buy. Whatever your situation, we have the tools you're looking for.

Make Painting Easier with Ladder and Paint Sprayer Rentals
Take advantage of warmer weather to paint outdoors. Rent paint sprayers to get professional coverage fast and make surfaces look new again. Scaffolding rentals help you reach high areas when painting fences, houses, and sheds. We carry extension ladders and step ladders for small to medium jobs, so you won't have to wait when you're ready to work.

Rent Floor Sanders, Shop Vacuums, Post Hole Diggers, and More
Tackle serious jobs with serious power tool rentals. Take your scuffed hardwood to the next level with a floor sander rental and a shop vacuum rental to get the floors smooth and ready for refinishing. Construct a new fence around your home faster with a post hole digger rental, then utilize other concrete tools that suit the job at hand.

Truck Rental
To meet your transport needs, we keep box trucks and cargo vans on hand — with availability varying by store. We also offer Penske moving trucks in sizes ranging from 12-feet to 26-feet at certain stores. We'll have the correct size truck rental for your DIY project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your trusted source for DIY projects, packing, and storage needs, it's simple to make us your go-to source for moving and transport as well.

Large Equipment Rentals
Complete massive projects with the right pro power equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job yourself. From the boom and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini skid steers and mini excavators for hauling materials, we've got a surprising variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore our selection to see what we've got in stock.

Although we're calling out specific tool, truck, and large equipment rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you've got a particular piece of equipment in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.

Frequently Asked Questions about Rentals

How do I rent tools, trucks, or large equipment?

Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what's available. If you'd like to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a tool, truck, or large equipment. You could also read our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is carried at your local store. For more on renting tools or large equipment, read the Tool Rental FAQs, which includes terms and conditions for the equipment.

Can I rent large equipment or a tool for a month?

You can rent a tool or large equipment for four hours or more. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small DIY projects may only require a short rental period, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent large equipment and tools by the week, day, or month, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call your Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.

When do I return the tools?

You're welcome to return the tools early if you complete your project faster than planned, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need them longer, call your local rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.

Can I rent a truck for a week?

Rent a cargo van, box truck, or pickup truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Be sure to factor in the drive between the store and the job site, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the terms and conditions before choosing a vehicle.

Do I need to refuel the rental truck when I'm done?

Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Match the amount of gas that was in the tank when you got the rental. When you don't refill the rental truck, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.

Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck or large equipment?

No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be 21 or older. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements. Select tools as well as large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.

Do I need to pick up my large equipment rental?

Depending on your location, you may be able to get large equipment dropped off at your job site for an affordable rate — whether that's out in the field or at your own home. We'll need at least 24 hours notice so we can prepare your rental delivery for you and you'll need to rent it for a full day. Speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.

How do I avoid penalties and extra fees on rented large equipment?

Think of your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure you obey traffic laws and it's parked legally. Read the operator's manual so you're using it correctly to avoid injuring yourself or damaging the equipment. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Make sure to return equipment by the deadline or extend the rental period to accommodate the extra hours or days you require.
