Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, CFLs, and lead acid batteries for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store cut down energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives such as solar and wind.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to the environment, as well as our communities. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Learn more about our eco actions.

Should I get an inverter generator or a portable generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared for any circumstances Mother Nature throws at you. Whether you're dealing with thunderstorms, blizzards hurricanes, tornados, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity after the elements knock it out. When browsing generators for sale, don't forget that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. For safety purposes, always run your generators outdoors, away from doors and windows.
Should I make siding repairs now?
Make sure your home is ready for spring temperature swings by repairing or replacing faulty parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in any crevices, you could be headed for trouble. On the outside of your home, examine shingles or metal roofs for damage or rust that could let water leak in. Gutters should be clear to prevent ice dams if you're prone to frozen precip as the seasons change. Check brickwork and cinder block for cracks. Indoors, ensure ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. Lastly, replace chimney caps and vinyl siding if damaged.
Do you have doorbell cameras?
Enjoy safety, privacy, and peace of mind with a wired or wireless doorbell camera. No more peeking through a peephole or window when you can see human or animal visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you chat remotely via your phone, which is useful for delivery people or to scare off would-be porch pirates. Many cameras integrate with your smart home app or hub to give you easy and flexible accessibility. Choose to save video clips for future reference and worry less with more control.
