Can I rent a flatbed truck?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what trucks are available for rent. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about renting a Load 'N Go moving van, flatbed truck, or pickup truck. Penske moving truck rentals and moving vans have different rules. You may also read our truck rental page to see if what you need is at your store.
How long can I rent a truck?
Rent a truck or moving van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes may be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on the length of your project. Remember to factor in the drive between the job site and the store, as you must return it to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the terms and conditions before you decide on a van.
Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you return it. Match the level of gas that was in the tank when you received the rental. If you don't, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck.
